Hello all,
You may (or may not) remember me from writing the plot for the ill-fated 'Hammerite Imperium' mod or from my voice work for Cosas. Since then I switched to Oblivion (after not even touching games for years!) where I began more writing and voice acting and, always thinking fondly of the old game, I recently submitted something at TesNexus that I thought you might be interested in.
Thief fans may already know about the 'Thieves Arsenal' mod, the 'Basso' mod and the 'play as Garrett' skin but this one has recently been updated. It's a mod created by 'brucevayne' called 'Oblivion Sound Sets' that has been around for a while now. It's function is to allow the PC (player character) to talk in the same way as 'Thief' had Garrett talking, besides offering a similar mod with various voices to go with your chosen companion. Needless to say that Garrett is already there. However, I have just started submitting my own scripts for the mod and the first one I created was a Hammerite called 'Jeremiah' who is a missionary sent from Auldale to convert the heathen folks of Cyrodiil.
If there are any good skinners out there prepared to get to grips with the CS and skin a Hammerite for me then I'm sure it would work great with this mod.
Personally, I'm not happy with some of the lines as they are since I feel that some of the recordings are a little inconsistent. Basically, this means that one of the 'stealing' lines is too quiet (okay, so a Hammerite probably wouldn't steal but it's part of the game in Oblivion, plus it's sort of justified in the scripts and, if he ends up as a companion for Garrett then he's gonna get corrupted eventually anyway ;) ). Other files such as the chants are spoken in the tones of how they appeared in the game rather than how they best suited the character. I will be changing the ones here some time in the near future but here they are anyway: (

Enjoy! Feedback welcome.

Sorry the first post had to be like this, but I believe that tesnexus just adopted a policy of not hosting mods that contained content from other games. I have no idea how strict they are, but you may want to find other hosting solutions just in case. (I only know about this because there was a recent stir about the Morrowind to Oblivion conversion being dropped.)
I won't be able to check this out for a week or so to come, as I am away from my apartment on vacation, but I look forward to checking it out.

There's this:

Morroblivion and mods that use content from other gamesDark0ne | 18:48, 4 February 2008 |
Sadly today I have been requested by Bethesda Softworks to pull the mod "Morroblivion" from the site as it breaches the EULA for Oblivion. Matt Grandstaff explained the situation:
"Essentially, we let folks mod our games like Morrowind or Oblivion, but we don't allow for folks to take content from another game and put it into a new game - even if they own both copies, and even if it's one of our own games."
The situation is unfortunate, as Morroblivion was a great tool I'm sure made with the best of intentions, but the rights to this content belong to Bethesda Softworks and they are perfectly within their rights to make such requests. While I'm pretty liberal when it comes to the content allowed on the site (nudity, violence, etc. etc.) when it comes to copyrights and content ownership I have to draw the line.
Hopefully you can all appreciate the situation. If you believe a file you're looking at is in breach of copyright or takes content from Morrowind, or any other game, please use the "Report this file" feature to inform the staff on the site so it does not potentially affect myself and the site itself.
Thank you.
UpdateBefore locking a topic on the official forums about Morroblivion, moderator Dogsbody has provided further clarification on the matter:
"There are many reasons why this is so; among others, it is important to protect the original licensor's rights when Bethsoft has licensed a resource to use in a game. That license may allow use of the resource in that game alone, and Bethsoft is duty-bound to prevent the resource from being used in any other game, including their own."
It is evident many users are upset by the decision and many of us, myself included, were wondering why exactly this had to be done. Hopefully this helps patch things up. I stand by the comment that providing this information from the offset, rather than it being weeded out of different people gradually, can only bring good things. Communication communication communication.
So as long as the content is totally user-created, we're good.

Yes, I see your point but, hopefully, it will be clear that the files themselves are created by myself. I wonder if the fact that TTLG is no more will help me here. I can't really see how the 'Basso' mod, the 'play as Garrett' mod or the 'Garrett' audio content from the game itself in this mod is different from my own. Then there is the fact that I have given TTLG due credit for the inspiration and their wonderful game. All of this convinced me that I was in the clear.
By the way, I just sent over another voice set today for Khajiti characters called Ja-Kha'iit-myr. It should be released soon.

Just so you know, you haven't been accused of anything, IG.
The fact that
LGS is no more doesn't mean you have an advantage, since EIDOS controls the copyrights and intellectual properties, and have even recently demonstrated their disinterest in making any of it available to the public. The only tricky part, which hasn't really been an issue for fans, is in regards to intellectual property. It's so vague and hard to prove that it's rarely pursued. Like I said, as long as you are making it all yourself, you shouldn't have a problem. You're not selling it, so you're gonna be okay.
I can't speak on anyone else's behalf with regards to giving
Oblivion a try now that there are
Thiefy mods for it. I'm not a gamer, and my laptop's resources are limited, as well as my time.
By the way, do you have any screenshots to show off the modifications?
And (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=105373) this thread, might be useful for sharing your mods, too. It needs a little updating, though.

Thanks for clearing that up, folks :thumb:
A useful thread, jtr7. Thanks! Nice to hear from you again, Digi. I still drift into these forums from time to time especially regarding anything Cosas-related. Interestingly enough, some of my recruits for the forthcoming final release of the quest mod 'Lost Spires' ( (
http://www.lostspires.com/) ) includes 'Silver-ONI' whom Digi recommended (and did an excellent job!) and 'Lizanneh' who is perhaps more familiar around these parts (and who also did an excellent job!)
Anyway, regarding this mod, I have now included a new sound set strictly for Oblivion fans only as it features a set for the Khajiit race. A lore-friendly script is included.
jtr7 on 19/3/2008 at 19:28
Nice! Glad things are working out fairly well for you. Glad to hear Silver-ONI's efforts have been integrated somewhere, too.

Hi, this might not be exactly what you're looking for, but I got this hammerite inspired retextured armor that is meant for a thief'y mod that I'm working on. Thought I should mention the armor in case you could find a use for it in your mod.
