Lockpicks are weird. I discovered new glitch with them. If you equip sword and hold attack button while also having lockpick selected and then quickly select different item (you can also use lockpick on object you can highlight like door or lever) Garrett will auto attack. That's nothing special. But if you are standing near door or other object and you do overhead swing and do lockpick select, then overhead swing will hit door around 10 times and keep bumping into door couple seconds after animation will end. And don't worry ghosters, this doesn't damage wooden doors. It just creates a lot of noise.
You can also do the same trick with blackjack and this time blackjack bumping into door will be infinite until you realease attack button, hide blackajck or select different weapon. And if you walk away from object you are bumping into in correct moment bumping will not stop. Instead it will speed up and end couple seconds later.
I experimented with it a bit in Shipping and Receiving OM and I managed to discover something even more intersting. I bumped into guard first, then went for metal door and when I walked away in correct moment metal door sound sped up and then to my surprise sped up sound of bumping into guard started to play. In other words I triggered some weird sped up backwards sound replay.
But what this glitch is doing with bow? Bow doesn't connect with objects, so there is no sound glitch related to it. But you can actually walk with equipped arrow ready to shoot. Arrow weirdly wobbles when you turn and move and you also walk slightly slower than normally. Movement speed is the same as when you hold attack button on bow and Garrett will hide it. So bow animation is frozen and you can repeat lockpick select again and Garrett will start hiding arrow and animation will freeze while only fledging is visible. You can walk like that throughout the whole mission.

For downwinder:
You can complete the mission Assassins without Farkus dying (at least in OldDark, couldn't get this to work in NewDark).
At the start of the level if you select a weapon or move off the carpet it triggers the arrow that kills Farkus (the arrow doesn't matter in fact as he is still scripted to die even if you block it). If you crouch-creep all the way to the hammerite banner near the door though (try moving against the barrel to improve your chances of avoiding the script) you can then move towards the door without any shot being fired. Once outside Quince and Jacow will do their usual conversation and you can continue to complete the mission as long as you don't draw any weapons (you can however pick up some arrows in Farkus' shop to have them auto-select... just stay away from the carpet).

Flashbombs affect undead. It just never occurred to me.

This is great Idea for a thread. I have played thief for a long time, ever since 1998 when I got a demo disk in Tomb Raider. Thanks to all the mission developers who have made thief what it is today. Your tireless efforts are greatly appreciated.
I recently discovered you can stand behind a inward swinging door to knock out guards even when they are full on alert looking for you. Slightly open the door but with you standing there it wont open the door all the way to where the guards partially stick there head through the door. They cant see you so but you can KO them taking no damage. "Here chickee chickee". Happy Taffing.

Kpop, In Rebellion Of The Builder 2 I used to whack a door frame to attract undead enemies on the other side with the clanging. They would hunt up to the door frame and I could chop them to undeath as they could never quite advance far enough around the frame to see me, leave hunt mode and start attacking.
This would also work on corners, and was suprisingly effective for clearing out rooms with many undead in missions such as the haunted fortress.
I used to think of this technique as "ringing the dinner bell".
Anyway, I wonder if what you describe is more due to doorway thresholds always having a line of perfect shadow that you might be standing in? And of course you can blackjack KO even fully alerted enemies if standing in perfect shadow?
