Apart from missing the deadweight of Bloom and Knightley... this looks like a chopped up selection of any of the last three movies served up as a trailer. I don't know if I can take any more of it... the third one was

Yeah mostly parts of the earlier movies and there were also some images from Lord of the Rings and King Kong in it and maybe some other movies I didn't recognize.

It's a fan made trailer for an apparently real project. Ian McShane as Blackbeard, but I am not sure that McShane and Geoffrey Rush can float this wreck. I think its swash is permanently buckled.
Why couldn't they just make Monkey Island 5 instead?

In the press releases they are selling it as scaled down with more focus on character and story. That's what I like to hear but I just don't trust Bruckheimer to do anything simple and elegant, especially not in 3eeee DeeeE.

He is. There is some debate on how much of his book is actually being used in the film, or if it was just a case of 'Well, the story Elliot and Rossio came up with is very similar to this book by this other guy. We should buy the film rights to the book from him so he doesn't sue us. And then we can use the awesome name, too.'

Sorry, but I rather enjoyed the Bloom/Knightley arcs in the last 3 flics and I'm already disappointed by the fact that they won't be in this latest. I was hoping there'd be a solution to the Will-Turner-now-ferries-dead-souls-&-can-only-come-ashore-once-every-ten-years issue. Helluva place to leave that arc imo.
Zombies? Meh ..... I get my fill of those with the FMs.
I did get a kick out of Keith Richard's Captain Teague, though.

Penelope Cruz? Ugh. Well, could be worse, at least Orlando Bloom's out of the picture.
I don't know, I kinda liked the first three movies and I hope it turns out fun, but I'm always skeptical about characters and stories that keep coming back, and I thought that the last movie's end was a good way to finish up. Though I suppose that's not really an issue with comedy.
