But that's it, innit? Plenty of us found it fun and entertaining. Cause you didn't like it doesn't make it bad. Who cares what a critic had to say, anywho. I think the more light and cheesy the movie gets the less of an authority anyone has over its "quality." As with most cheese films you either love them or hate them. And just think, I'm the snobby kind who doesn't like most Hollywood films, my netflix queue is indie and foreign stuff, but I definitely enjoy movies like POTC. I like Pirates, I like Johnny Depp, it has pirates and Johnny Depp fighting zombie pirates. I think arguing over weather these sort of films are actually good or not is asinine.

Which I think is rubbish. There is a qualitative difference between Raiders of the Lost Ark and the Quartermain movies - and there is a qualitative difference between the first and the second POTC movie, just as there is between the first Matrix film and its sequels. Just because it's difficult to grasp these differences in quality concretely doesn't mean they're not there. There is a reason why metacritic-type sites have a higher score for POTC than for DMC.
That doesn't mean it's somehow reprehensible to like the second one as much as the first or even better.
As I said earlier: I don't have to agree with a review to think it's a good review (or even a good read). I care what interesting critics say, not because I base my opinion on what they say but because reading a good review is almost like having a good discussion with someone about a film. "Film A is great and film B sucks!" "Uh-huh! Film B is fantastic, film A is a piece of shit and you're mad to think otherwise!" isn't what I call good discussion.

Raiders of the Lost Ark is not a popcorn flick and does not belong in this discussion. >:|
There is undeniable truth that the second film isnt as good as the first, though. But having a fairly limited selection of pirate films at hand means I'm all for milking that franchise. :cheeky:

What is Raiders if not a popcorn flick, and perhaps the most perfectly crafted popcorn flick at that?

Saturday morning serial homage?

It belongs in my "Cheesy" thread. :cheeky:
Joking apart. It does not. Raiders was to me,well made and great fun. I loved all The Raiders films. Harrison Ford, is making another I read as well.

This thread is beginning to resemble the 300 thread.

You're beginning to resemble the 300 thread.

I don't like 300 threads. Anything over 220 and the weave is too dense to breathe properly. It's like sleeping under saran wrap.
