The videocard was just replaced. The SS2 menu now shows a bright pink color, but everything else seems to work.

Do I need the System Shock 2.zip or the ShockEd.zip?

You need System Shock 2, plus ShockEd if you want to use the editor.

I used the ddfixgui patch but now the game does not start anymore, the game crashes to windows (win xp). the start menu and intro work correctly though.
