It's a little pathetic (and creepy) that this guy starts up a new band and finds a lead singer that looks and sounds extremely similar to the lead singer from his last band, which he quit (and let's face it, is a female, which isn't that common). I mean, whether he created the sound or not, I think he needs to move on, especially when it's obvious that this year's model is inferior to the previous one.
It's a little like looking for a new girlfriend that looks exactly like your ex (and maybe that's the case too). :weird:

@dethy - read the OP. I don't LIKE this music, I don't even think it's good. They just happen to be friends of mine.
@Brethren - the singer is married, so I don't think it's a girlfriend thing. Like I said, one trick pony. He usually works with female singers (Amy Lee, Hanna Pestle, Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, Celine Dion, etc.) so it's not THAT uncommon for him. But, yeah, it's a total rip on Evanescence, which I guess is his prerogative since he was 50% of that band. Since Amy Lee owns the Evanescence name, and he still wants to make that music, I kind of understand why he'd want to re-create the same thing with a different name. In a sense that IS moving on (though not in a direction that aligns with my personal taste in music).

Seek new friends.

Amy tends more toward Tori Amos & Bjork than anything resembling the pop/goth thing that Evanescence does so it will be a struggle for her to maintain that vibe by herself, or even with another group of musicians, which I think was evident from the second album.
Amy is also quoted on (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evanescence#Third_studio_album:_2009.E2.80.93present) Wikipedia as saying that the new album will have a more of an electro pop feel with lighter lyrics, so maybe with it she's beginning to pull the band away from where they began and towards what is more her style.

I didn't know I was going to be picking sides, but it looks like I'm with Amy on this one.
