Why does everyone always say 'Great Britain' anyway? I mean, that hasn't actually been the title of the country for 200 years.
Edit: no, the Irish don't necessarily know what you're talking about. Care to enlighten me?
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is the current title is it not? Thats what it says on British passports at least.

I guess that media hypocrisy irks me the most. Every hysterical journo on the air wails about Russia's imperial ambitions, while failing to recognize that it is precisely because of the imperial ambitions of the current White House administration, the U.S. is meddling in the affairs of local politics on another continent.
This is the forum that I really love. You see, even Americans (I don't know about you but it's irrespective) are of very different points of view when matter concerns Russia or its imperial ambitions. If you would know Russian and visited practically any Russian political forum, actually not necessarily political, you'd see that Americans are deeply hated there, as well as any foreigners who aren't agreed with Russia's policy, you'd see that everyone there thinks the same when matter concerns acts of their country or foreign policy, so any polemic there doesn't have a sense.

If anyone wondering, d'Spair got to my ignore list a long time ago, and there has been only one person for all these years in the list, he done a really notable accomplishment.
So I'm going to... well... keep to ignore :cheeky:
That would not have been so funny if 242 actually had cared to remember about his ignore list. But, unfortunately, his desire to discuss and argue about
everything concerning Russia sometimes caused his memory to fail. Now, when he had faced some strong arguments and united opposition by the vast majority of the folk at the Russian forum, I believe his ignore list is going to grow rapidly. I wonder now when he decides to forget about this one.
Though I can feel sorry for the man. It's probably very difficult to chill out and live happily when the evil Russian militarists are knocking at his door, and evil Putin and Medvedev are eating Ukrainian babies out in the streets of Kiev.

united opposition does not necessarily a righteous opposition make. sometimes it's just a herd instinct that drives anonymous internet posters to gang up. i can't help but feel the opposition he would face would be drenched in sarcasm and name calling.

I'll only say that Mr.D'Spair is very wrong about my ignore list - it doesn't grow and really includes only one person.
PS: Well, actually there was another person, yes, I forgot about the fact.

No, Russian Dark Fate forum is a home to some pretty clever taffers who have their knowledge in politics and history (and many of them are Ukrainians, by the way). At least some of them.
The reason I say all this here (and I'm not sure that people at TTLG are really interested in our local Russian-Ukrainian internet fights over politics) is because 242 is the most biased person I've ever seen in the Internet. I've come to that conclusion after some years trying to discuss with him some political and social issues. I have no idea why, but 242 seems to dislike everything about Russia and especially Russia conducting its internal and foreign policy according to our Russian national interests. That's why you should take his opinions on the matter with a huge grain of salt. He will surely try to convince you that here in Russia we live oppressed by militia, that Putin and Medvedev are tyrants and dictators, that we are not a free society and so on. And that we, of course, are dreaming of conquering Ukraine and toppling president Yuschenko as soon as possible.
Not that I'm way too much interested in 242's personal views on the matter, but as far as he is fierce fan of expressing his quite radical opinions (and you can see that by just counting the number of his posts here in this thread), his voice is going to be loud. And this is why I can't help but joining quite a scrupulous discussion, which is definitely not the best thing I can do in my spare time.

Exactly! They're shortening it to the wrong part.
And d'Spair, unless Liverpool is now a suburb of Smolensk, Tblisi or Kiev, five minutes of checking on this forum would have told you SD is not Russian, Georgian or Ukrainian.

As lame as it is to put someone on one's ignore list, even worse is to make such information public in the misguided assumption that anyone else gives a shit.

Oh, I'm terribly sorry.
The situation around South Ossetia and the state of democracy in Russia is probably best observed from Liverpool. At least that's what I think after SD presented us so many cogent facts on the matter.

And then refute what the 'ignored' person said in your very next post.
