here's a somewhat cool-headed view from a British author of what is happening in most of the Western-based diplomatic circles and "free and objective" media at the moment, namely ramping up hysterics and fear of Russia as a world-class oppressor, downplaying or plain ignoring the true cause and initiator of the conflict in Georgia and escalating attempts to bring back the cold war, or worse provoke a West vs Russia military standoff...
I believe this covers the "is this WWIII part of the discussion.
The "is this teh new COLD WAR???????" spin is just a nice way to get attention. Awesome I say. :thumb:

You are probably used to "This elections sux0r!" kind of resolutions?
I'm not used to, I would like if the final resolutions were like that :cheeky: nah, just kidding.
(
http://euobserver.com/9/26635) France calls summit on EU-Russia relations
The Brussels summit will take place "following the demands of many member states" and will be devoted to EU "aid to Georgia and the future of its relations with Russia," a French communique said on Sunday.
....
On Sunday, German chancellor Angela Merkel said on national TV that "Russia has not yet fulfilled its commitment to the six-point peace plan [on withdrawal to pre-conflict positions]," adding "Russia's credibility is at stake."

"Angela, while it may appear that the lab monkeys are communicating with each other, I assure you it's quite impossible. You claim that one monkey signed the passcode for a supply closet to another and the latter proceeded to open it. As I'm sure you know, there have literally been tens of thousands of studies of primate intelligence and there is no evidence of behavior even remotely that sophisticated. So either you've single handedly trumped the entire field of animal behaviorists or you're badly in need of a vacation."

Well, if McCain succeeds in his bid for presidency, and Russia continues to behave in an "unruly" manner, it's not too far-fetched an outcome.

You make it sound as the "unruly" manner is only White House's imagination or opinion, you don't care that many nearby countries suffer and suffered from the manner, do ya?

Well, as i mentioned earlier, Russia was unjustified in progressing past the South Ossetian border and into Georgia proper. BUT, which part of "Georgia initiated this war by bombarding the city Tskhinval with long-range artillery, then sending in tanks killing civilians and Russian peacekeepers." don't you understand?
The hawks on this side of the ocean keep droning on about the Russian aggression on Georgia, but say nothing of what triggered the incursion. Corporate media serves lies and half-truths and the masses are only too happy to eat it up.
Now, unless Ukraine plans to attack the RF Navy stationed on the Black Sea until 2017, what exactly is your worry about Russia, I thought you guys could always resolve your differences via diplomacy, not tanks.

and this being a photograph of the Nazi armed forces why precisely did you post it?
