Any chance of implementing a feature like Quake3World's lvlshot tag that automagically resizes posted images so that they don't appear obscenely large?
I've been noticing recently that the most practical way for me to post pictures from my Steam profile is to simply link them, otherwise I'd have to download the picture, edit its proportions, upload it to a picture hosting service, hope that the service doesn't block external linking, then post it here.
Q3W implemented a lvlshot tag quite a few years ago that takes any picture you throw at it and resizes the preview to an acceptable standard framesize while still allowing users to click through for the full resolution image.
Of course, Q3W is phpBB whereas this is vBulletin, so I don't even know if similar functionality is possible, but it would help put an end to people complaining about oversized images on undersized displays.

Also some sites let you 'spoiler for big', that is to say that an image can be put in spoiler tags such that they don't appear until the spoiler is clicked (though they're still loaded with the page).

Most picture image hosting sites provide linked thumbnails.
TTLG also used to sell it's attachment option (a perk you received in return for donating). Not sure if that still goes on. It's not recommendable anyway. The attachment feature is buggy, has a convoluted and unintuitive UI and pictures pop up in an annoying fancybox overlay. So basically no one uses it.
