Anyone notice that Morrowind seems to be a total reversal from Daggerfall as far as lockpicking/pickpocketing. Where in Daggerfall it was nearly impossible to pick locks, and pickpocketing was easy, in Morrowind its totaly diffrent (Which seems odd, since the first thing a thief usually is, is a pickpocket, only later after becoming a master of sorts do they learn to pick locks)
Anyways my question is, why is pickpocketing so hard, and what am I doing wrong. I'm level 36 with AGI 98 Int 82 Stealth 100 Security 82. Even with a magical boost to my luck and security (Luck 72 Security 101) I still find it impossible to pinch even a bit of gold off of someone. Does anyone have any "Tricks of the trade" or what not, any hints or little known facts would be quiet usefull. It's kinda embarasing that I'm the Master of the Thieves Guild, can infiltrate just about any trap or lock and still cannot pick some random person's pockets

That's funny, I'm level 9 and looting living NPCs on a daily basis ;)
Just hit your sneak button; approach your victim (at best from behind) and open the menu interface.
What you see from the inventory is based on your security skill as far as I know.
If nothing/the wrong items show up, just retry.

Invisibility and/or chameleon spells also work wonders.

Also, don't do a "Take All" from them. Select the items one at a time. And quicksave before you try :). Sometimes the same NPC will notice it on one attempt, but not do a thing on another attempt.

I've read that your fatigue level is also important when doing percentage checks like this (pickpocketing, persuasion, etc.). If you have any less than a full stamina level, then you will fail a lot more at these things.

Perhaps I was not holding the sneak key throughout, let me try that. I can see thier full inventories usally, however its when I try to select the item that badness happens. Also the funny thing is one of the only times I actually got pickpocket to work I used to take all button.
Edit: Ohkay that didn't work. Also I alsways try at full fatigue, save before and try a couple times, and use Ring of Sorroundings (strangly an artifact?) before hand (chameleon 20-30% I belive) and am still unable to loot even ONE gold from someone, Of my entire thief career I belive I've take ONE ring, after many attempts.

Get the amulet of surroundings, its chamleon 80% and you can basically steal anything you want with it on.
