Hey, long time no post.
I've got a dilemma, what I could do with is to create a colour palette in, say, photoshop, that I could open an image into, and have photoshop match the colours of the image as closely as possible to those in the palette. The idea behind this is that for the products I'm currently selling, I need to match colours from customer artwork to about 500 various colours that we can produce, which right now is done by holding a swatch against the screen, which is awkward and innaccurate.
So I need it to match the colours for me, that way I can get it as close as possible for initial sampling of the product (woven labels). Any ideas would be much appreciated.

This a bit weak, there probably some better way or some other program that does this; but creating a custom pallette for 8bit colour kinda does this. that was the first thing that sprang to mind. The problem is that it only gives you 256 colours to play with.
