Photography advice. - by Tenkahubu

Hello all.
Recently I decided to put my wonderful scribbles on the net for people to see.
I decided that I would use the stupid Deviant art page even though it is for Goth losers. Well, it`s free
But the photos I`ve taken mostly look shit. It seems to be because I have to enhance the contrast so much. Many of my pictures are fairly faint pencil drawings.
When I enhance the contrast I get shadows around the corners, making the picture seem rather circular.
I tried buying some lamps with strong bulbs to cast a good light over the whole sheet but this didnt really work as the light was too yellow and cast a glare on the paper.
I`m still waiting for a sunny day to arrive. When one does I might try retaking them outside.
In the meantime, anybody have any suggestions?
Or any experience in this matter?
None of the 15 year olds on the site seem to have problems :(

Use a scanner.

Much as I`d like to, unfortunately I live somwhere that has very different tech to US/Europe. Scanners are almost as rare as colour printers, or the near mythical tumble drier. Still, if you think that the scanner is the only way then I`ll accept it.

Scanners are hard to come by in Exeter?!?

There's another Exeter here:
(

But if one has a computer with internet access, it shouldn't be beyond one's means to get a scanner, given that the technology isn't new.

I use an Epson flatbed photo scanner model 3590. $150.00U.S cheap. I have done hundreds of scans of new and very old photo's with very good results. Using a camera is fun but is the hardest way to do what you are doing. Also, I can scan hand written documents and drawings just as easily becuase of the photo quality of the scanner. Buy an Epson or find someone that has one.
I've also been scanning old documents and the scanner does an awsome job with those too.

I know there is more than one Exeter, I just figured that anyone from one of the non-famous Exeters would be considerate enough to state which :).

So what's your Exeter famous for? I've certainly never heard of it.
Quite frankly, it sounds MADE UP, if you ask me. :grr:
