hey I checked out your spotify stuff. It good, very much kinda radiohead vibe going on, at least to my ear. I really like the intro of "Tree" up until after the line "We used to be here". You need to take that intro and keep the sound for a whole song, its really good.

Thanks Pig, well I'm gradually working on more stuff so there may be more of that kind of vibe eventually!

Tocky - did you find the whole album? It's out now too. Links everywhere - my site is (
www.kydkal.com) www.kydkal.com, they're all there.
Most of it *doesn't* have the southern rock thing going on, more of a King's X/Brother Cane/Dadrock vibe. But my first real band was a southern rock/Black Crowes kind of thing so I guess it's still in my DNA. I cut my hair before even going in because a kid who'd had the artificial implant before me warned me they shaved EVERYTHING. And they did - a little Puero Ricaan woman told me all about the love of Cheesus while shaving my pubs at 5:30am the morning of. It had pretty much grown back out by the time I got the real donor heart 9 months later and for some reason didn't shave anything for that (probably because they weren't implanting a machine that time).
Just for variety, here's the other end of the album for context.

LOL. I recognize that stack of bills in The Other Half. I will find the album now. Thanks. I also recognize and resonate with quite a bit of the messages in your songs. I was raised on southern rock so it's like coming home for me. Not that I can't appreciate the other. Lot's of things strike a chord. Some fragments make me wonder. Aside from the Funky Town song reference did you ever actually go to Funky Town? I know you lived in Arkansas for a long while so did you go to the antique store near Toad Suck (I think) called Funky Town? I mean, when you hear the name you have to go right? More importantly you have to take your girl so you can say you have. You must miss Arkansas at times. Lots of beautiful country from Petit Jean to Magazine. Anyway, I dig your sound and I'm off to Amazon now.
This version of Fine Print is kickass BTW.

I've absolutely been to Funky Town in Toadsuck! My band played at Toadsuck Daze three years running. I guess I don't notice the southern rock thing as much in this stuff because I've been listening to so much other music that's polar opposite - Muse, Rapsody, Lorde. Just goes to show that once it's in your DNA there's not much you can do. It's all purposely dated sounding because I can't/don't want to compete with modern pop/rock stuff. It's found it's audience with Brother Cane, Jude Cole, Edwin McCain, Collective Soul, and Big Wreck/Thornley fans, so I'm mostly happy. I'm about 1/3 of the way into a project with a bass player and we're doing really on-the-nose Jellyfish/Beatles tunes, so that's fun.

Hey I really like that Kolya, its like a soundtrack piece for some early 80's film about the struggle in lower class UK.

It's got a New Wave feel to it and I like that synth sound that comes in periodically.

I made a song recently and started using my SoundCloud again for less formal releases than putting stuff on all the streaming platforms. Follow if you are on it and interested!
Anyway I'll not spam everything here but this one is kind of Lovecraft-inspired so I thought some of you might be interested in that aspect:
