While playing with error messages and fixes to make my map run, I altered my user.ini again with another new line -
Quote:
[PCVertexPools]
;added 0 to the end of the line
StaticVertexPool=26214400
And not only does my level now work again, but the game also seems to move faster.
Anybody else noticed something like that?

I just tried this on the standard game install directory. I have to say that there was a noticible increase in performance. Areas that used to slow to a crawl before are fully playable now, with only a minor amount of slowdown.
I would normally say this was my imagination but that's a fairly noticible difference.

Have you tested to see just how much of an increase it gives, with fraps or something similar?
EDIT: interestingly enough, testing this on DX2, it actually slows down the game.

Did you apply both
[PCVertexPools]
;;added an extra 0 to the end of the default.ini pool size;;
StaticShadowVertexPool=15728640;added 0 to the end of the line
StaticVertexPool=26214400I'll check it out with fraps though.

There's also 'stat fps' in the debug menu under warfare stats. Also note that sometimes (mentioned elsewhere) TDS just seems to run poorly (like, half normal framerate), and then on the very next start, it's good again - so be sure it's not just that.

Yeah, it's kind of hard to tell if it was accurate or not now. I mean, there was no sluggishness at all when I applied that tweak...but oh well. Seems to be around the same now. who knows? LOL

I tried this on my non-overclocked Radeon 9550 128Mb / Athlon 1866Mhz 512Mb RAM.
On one of two slowest scenes in game: Gamall's Lair, first room in the upper floor (The other scene is in Kurshok's Citadel). I didn't recognize any performance change: Highest framerate (AA 4x, 800*600) was about 25, and the lowest - 5 FPS in both cases.
May be I'm not doing it right?

You even more AA would put...
There's noncense to play at 800x600 with AA on. Of course you din't notice changes.
Damnation on 2/5/2005 at 10:55
800*600 with AA 4x is not much slower than 1024*768 (well, it is slower, but not much), but realy MUCH nicer. Overclocked Radeon 9550 gives a playable framerate most of the cases.
Anyway, 20 fps is enough to notice even 5% performance increase.
Logan on 2/5/2005 at 12:56
20 fps?
and 5%?
You meen than you can see on eye 1(one) fps!!!!!!!!??????????????? :weird: at that time when game has changing beetween 5-20fps???????????? :weird: :eww:
Ok... . :nono: :sweat: :p No comments.
