I NEVER used the DX Plasma Rifle. It was just as useless as System Shock 2's EMP rifle.

WTF?
I'm no gun-nut, nor do I endorse the production of more weapons to do ourselves in with. But that's a pretty silly reason for protesting against it. A fricken cheese-grater can be used for torture! A book can be used for torture!(if you hit someone in the head with it) ANYTHING can be used for torture, if you're inventive enough. I hardly think terrorists are going to throw away their baseball-bats and water-tubs and whatever other torturing-paraphernalia they got lying around and buy million dollar plasma rifles just to do something that mankind has been doing since the dawn of time with their bare fists.

You miss the point though. It's because it doesn't cause permenant injury - it can be used over and over and over again without leaving evidence and without killing.

Sure beats being shot with a bullet, though...
