So as of a week ago, my Windows 7 machine won't go to sleep automatically anymore (I have it set for sleep after 1 hour of inactivity). I haven't installed anything new lately, so I have no idea what the problem could be. I couldn't find anything that useful online, other than checking for new programs installed, or looking at the event log for errors. Any ideas?

This can be caused by a legacy driver that doesn't support power management or a device that prevents sleep. My first advice would be to unplug as much as possible and see if the problem still persists.

Go into the BIOS under Power Management and disable CLOWNWILLEATME.

Thanks, I'll try and update my hardware drivers too

Also make sure your Video card driver is installed and upto date.

Start an administrative command line and type:
This will display any drivers or processes that are keeping your PC awake. This is but the first step, though. For example, if your sound card driver is the culprit, you have to figure out which application is using the driver.

Thanks, I'll try when I get home. My video card driver was outdated, but even after updating it, it still doesn't sleep

Tried that last night, but it didn't work
