Nickie, your motherboard only accepts AGP video cards. PCI-E video cards will not fit/work on your particular motherboard. Keep that in mind when making your choice.
Biker made a mistake in linking to a HD3650 PCI-E, here is the correct HD3650 AGP version.

These new modern video cards are power hungry as well, older power supplies might have problems feeding them the required amps.

Hi Landron
You are correct, I had been looking for AGp only cards, and the link I originaly clicked on was for the AGp version doh! and i forgot about Nickie's PSU, as you say it may not be powerful enough to run the HD3650, so she might have to settle for a 7600GS instead..
Also I have found a HD3650 on ebuyer for £48, so lets see if her PSU is upto the job...
Nickie you have a PM.

Thanks Ladron, biker.
I'll find out about the power when someone technical wakes up. :)
Aha! I've found a great 'idiot's guide to the pc' site so will get the info as soon as I've fixed the light.

OK, might be increasing my understanding here. The HD3650 requires 550 watt and I only have 400 watt which would be OK for the 7600 GS. At least that's what I think I read. But also from what I've read there's no way I could afford anything better at the moment. Few months down the line maybe.
I've dug around in the boxes downstairs but all the others are less - think I remember choosing this one as being the best of the bunch 3 odd years ago now. There are a dozen or so pcs around as well so I'll check them all out in case there's something better.
BUT - I did also find a couple of Seagate HDDs sitting in a box marked 'Good HDDs'. PM'd you biker about these.
I've been doing a bit more searching on PSUs and found (
http://www.pc-media.co.uk/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=2341&zenid=7640a1d5bbbe5cff694f991f5fea3ebb) this or (
http://www.misco.co.uk/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=253465&sourceid=2009) this Somewhat less than the £150.00 I first saw. So actually probably could manage a new one if it was a similar sort of price. But perhaps they're not much cop.

The 400W PSU you have is more than capable of doing the job, the minimum recommended PSU for that gfx card is 300W. But if you want to upgrade, you can get a dual rail 500W+ PSU for around £30.

Darn - still don't seem to be able to interpret things very well.
biker - thank you so much for your help. I now know exactly what I have to get and do which will be a first. :D
And baeuchlein and Ladron, my thanks to you two as well.

Yes I know it's thread necomancy but just in case anyone else is looking for information, all I needed to play the fms that I couldn't, ie. Rocksbourg 3, Lord Alan's Factory, Horns of Canzo (haven't tried the Chain Project yet or tried to reinstall Doom 3) etc. was to mildly upgrade the CPU to whatever it was I got from bikerdude. I can't remember what it was but no doubt he will.
No video cards needed or anything else. I did however, just for fun, initiate a gaming load on my pc which stopped endless unnecessary processes running but haven't found that I've needed that yet.

i think it was a Pentium 4 2.8ghz, w/800 fsb - I beleive you had a 1.6ghz celeron befor, so the cpu u now have is roughly 3-4 times faster than yer old one :cheeky:
