anyone who would pay for a mod that only has lousy horse armor deserves to be $2 poorer.
haha, I never thought of it that way. I guess I now support Bethseda for including natural selection for the money. Stupid people have too much money (Fortunately I have too much money too! hah!) these days, and bethseda has lightened the idiotic monetary load a feather with this new mod.

and look at the other mods "coming soon", it looks like a single quest and a new house for mages.

It looks like they're taking a page out of the book of "shitty mods that no one cared about in Morrowind"
Yeah, I only have eight houses, and I really can store my shit almost anywhere. I think I need a new house.
Here's a hint, Bethseda. DUNGEONS CREATURES AND DRAGONS OH MY

paying for a large, good quality, official mod I don't have a problem with. In fact, I'm all for expansion packs being purchase via digital download instead of retail box.
Paying for something like horse armor?
no freaking way. Not unless somebody cares to add some xbox points to my account for me.

I don't have time for a full response at the moment but I wanted to say something to this statement. Why is it the fact they were honest with you a bad thing? You contacted customer service and surprised they couldn't predict high-level executive decisions about unlikely hypothetical scenarios? Steam could be sold to another company, they could patch Halflife to run without validation, who knows. Besides the fact they seem to be doing very well, how can valve not have contractual obligations to the developers distributing through steam to keep it running? Or a legal obligation to provide a way for owners of the game to be able to play it?
Im very happy that they were honest with me, that was not my complaint. My mention of it was because you told me I should not worry at all about the future and called me a few things like an "alarmist" and "cant see the forest through the trees" because I do care about the future. Meanwhile the company themselves wont even claim about what to expect from them and yet you feel so confident in your purchase that you will critisize others who don't feel the same way. Im saying that you are taking liberties as fact that the company wont even give lip service to, let alone state as fact. Anybodyies guess as to what happens to Valve and Steam in the future is pure conjecture to be sure, but your whole argument in favor of steam and your defense of it comes from solidifying a future that cant be seen.
I fully understand that Half Life could be patched. That is why I called the company and it is the anwser I was hoping for. If they promised a patch in the distant future that would allow me to install and play the game without internet interaction, I would have likely bought the game the day it was released. But because they were so ambiguous, I fear for what decisions will be made. Its also interesting to me that you consider Valve to be one of the little guys struggling to make it in the world. All you have done is changed one vicious publisher out for another. Instead of dealing with crap from Sierra, now its crap from valve. My goal is not to convince you to hate steam, but you need to at least accept that other people have a right to hate it.
As for my original post, it is clearly worded to those who have literally bashed Bethsoft for releasing these mods for sale. You can hide behind semantics if you want, but most everyone in here has bashed them because the mods were not free. How can you say that you feel they don't owe you the mods and then say that they are 100% wrong for charging for them.

Once again, I'm not even sure Huckeye knows who he was referring to in that post.
They are 100% wrong for using horse armor as their pioneer $ mod. hahahaha horse armor.

I see that SomethingAwful made the official downloads page their "Awful Link of the Day" today (April 6), specifically citing the horse armor download:
