Nicolette is also a bit young for a relationship with Paul, I think... Nicolette is 20 at most (IMHO), and Paul 35 or so. Call me narrow-minded, but I don't think that relationships can work when there is such a big gap between the age of the two people involved.
Maybe Paul's girlfriend is *gasp* the mother of the <i>"Merci, merci, Monsieur"</i>-boy in the catacombs. Another reason to save these two annoying hostages? Or, at least, the female of them? :p

Personally I thought it was nothing but a gag to make the Maggie Chow relationship seem more believable at the time.

There is actually an outtake conversation in Hong Kong that can be accessed in the editor (but is never used in-game) between JC and a Luminous Path agent in which the agent tells JC that Paul is or was actually married to Maggie Chow. But this was cut from the game.

Wouldn't it be simpler to look for a character named "Charity" in the game? I'm sure they're one somewhere, surely in one of the three bars (NY, HK, Paris). But she may have nothing to do with Paul.

I always took Maggie Chow's 'intimately' comment in a different light, as in having intimate knowledge about him rather than being intimate with him. However, in light of the married thing mentioned above, I'm not sure.
