In lockdown. Have code. Chief Guard's room is locked. I've been everywhere else.
I killed the chief guard (and a bunch of others,as well; sheer frustration).
About ready to skip the rest of it.
Frustration and irritation have just about overwhelmed the Wow factors in this mission for me.
Enough is enough. Give the player a chance to succeed without blind luck playing a part.
Hours later:
Well, of course, after venting I found how to proceed and finish.
Onward, with trepidation.

Playing on normal, got the fuel can but can't find the fuel... where exactly is it? I don't want to search the house again and from a previous post I recon that on normal the fuel is not in the basement. I found a barrel that literally has a oil symbol on it but I can't take the oil from it :D

According to my notes, the fuel is already in the fuel can.

Just finished this absolutely amazing mission! This is in my top 3 mansion missions of all time, along with The Sword and Mission X. Zontik, you are pure genious man.
I do have a couple of questions:
1. Can you access the ceiling panel in the first floor kitchen? I can clearly see a chute and a ladder up there, which is also visible through a grate in the game room on second floor.
2. There is a secret hallway from the W sitting room on 1st floor, a switch on the wall opens it. It leads to a small dead-end hall with an unfrobbable door that can see into the sealed wing. If you come from the other side there is a wardrobe with a mirror in it, but you can't see through it. However, you can from the side see there is an opening behind. Is there any way to get through this area, or is it just a tease?
3. In one of the hidden wallspaces I frobbed a huge metal floor lever, one of the ones that usually operate portcullises. I never found out what that actually did, but I heard it open something when I used it.
4. Does the lock down to the prison from the palace guard ever become frobbable? I was never able to open the gate down there, but I was able to reach the prison from a different secret hallway.
5. Did I understand the story from frobbing the picture by the tunnel key right? Was Karras the one who had a bastard child with the Count's daughter? Or was it the child who later became Karras?

I have only some of the answers, but I guess that's better than nothing. Here we go...
3. That must be the lever operating the "bed trap". Using the lever makes a bed in one of the bedrooms swing down, like a hatch. Anyone resting there will fall down and meet a painful death somewhere down below on deadly spikes. The Count has used it to kill at least one person who came to his palace as a guest, but never actually left.
4. My notes say that it might become frobbable later on, but that it probably depends on the difficulty level you play on.
5. Karras had a child with the daughter. You will find out more about this later on in the campaign.

@ Klatremus
1. No you can't.
The shaft leading from the kitchen to the roof is a ventilation shaft and neither the glass panel on the kitchen ceiling nor the 2 x wall grills further up the shaft have any means of opening them. The ladder is a maintenance ladder, and even if you managed to get to the top of the shaft you wouldn't be able to access the roof as the shaft has a hat. (

Fortuni: Well, hats off to me then, cause I just found a way into that chute! ;)
In the western part of the attic, which you get to via the family wing, in the NW corner there is a grate that opens. This takes you to the chute and you can climb down and see out into the game room on 2nd floor (but this can't be opened), and you can also climb all the way down and see into the kitchen (but also can't open this). And yes you are right you cannot access the roof. Are these two lower grates possible to open on lower difficulties maybe? Just the same way the wardrobe in the attic blocking pathway east is only there on expert?
