really? wow. somehow i missed those
footprints, they didn't get activated when i was playing... thank you for sharing this!
I think the scripting of that whole sequence (that starts with you finding
the location of the murder and picking up the bloody dagger) was pretty wonky and unintuitive... I faintly remember the
superimposed pair of eyes that shows my psychic ability being activated appearing for a few seconds sometime after I picked up the dagger (...?), and that's probably what made the footprint trail show up as well. The author of these levels is just not particularly good at (or simply not particularly interested in) directing the player's attention to important details I think.

I am stuck in the catacombs tunnel. I got past the maze to a tomb with a lock, used the catacombs key to the lower level, but am stuck in this tunnel. I climb the ladder at the other end, and it's blocked at the top. There are no switches, locks or anything. Any hints???

EDIT: nvm, had to reload the mission then it showed up, there was a
switch there.

The footprints are usually only visible if
the murder weapon (the dagger) is drawn by Garrett. If the player sheathes it or selects another weapon, the blue light associated with the drawn dagger apparently should vanish, as well as any visible footprints. However, I found the blue light effect and the display of the footprints somewhat buggy; if something weird happens, one can try
repeatedly drawing and sheathing the dagger until the blue light effect seems to be okay. That cured footprint problems for me as well. Selecting another weapon instead of sheathing the dagger might not work, but "confuse" the blue light effect instead.

It's probably staring me in the face, but I can't find a way into the station. I'm playing on Normal.
- Nevermind, after about 50 leaps, I managed to mantle up onto the searchlight :(

I used another way to get into the police station. Seemed to be fairly easy, then.
I entered the house to the west of the station, then went up into the attic. There are two windows leading into the direction of the police station. The one in the northern part of the attic can be used to jump onto the metal roof of the station. This alerts the guards, but since they can't see Garrett then, it's not a significant problem (unless you're trying to ghost the mission, but that's never been my play style). If you wish, you can wait until the angry calls of the guards cease, and then you look for a way down. You will find it in the northeast corner, where you can drop down onto a balcony, enter the station and begin to annoy the inhabitants.:cheeky:

Thanks Baeuchlein!
I'm playing these missions for the first time after a 5 year hiatus from Thief. Right now they are beautifully created but a real pain as far as logical progression in the story is concerned .
Once I finish the campaign, I'll start again hopefully with a better idea of what's going on!

Hello.
I read a hint about whistle bu i still do not understand how use this whistle.
baeuchlein on 21/3/2020 at 17:58
Once you have obtained the whistle, go to the inn where the imprisoned guy who owned the whistle was lodging. Look upstairs for the man's room. A wardrobe in there should be movable, yielding a rat hole. Use the whistle with the hole (just like you would use a key with a keyhole), and wait until the rat has left the hole and eats the cheese. Now you can grab around in the hole, and once you get the grabbing angle right, you should get a "Bag of Fake Money". Give it to the innkeeper, and after a little chat, he should allow you to grab the key to the back door. The key is hanging on the wall near the bar, and now you can take it.

Thanks. It was helpful. :)
