Cool. Time to download and start a new game before Bioshock arrives. Perhaps this time I'll finally be able to do that 'Kill Poker' mission, and get his special shotgun.

Downloaded, installed and now reverting to 1.0003 (keeping the shaders though, for the performance benefit).
They've changed the all.spawn file which makes it incompatible with a fair whack of the mods available which is a bit of a shame I've found a few mods improves stalker and realigns it somewhat with what was it was originally gonna be.
eg, the other day I was helping Bes' gang out with the bandit assault on the scrapyard in Garbage and things weren't going too well - i.e. the remaining gang was Bes, and me on the verge of death. Suddenly, in a ridiculous last-minute hollywood movie style moment, the two guys I'd recruited to help me out in Cordon come running into the fray and swing the odds back against the bandits, having not only traversed
map boundaries but also run a good distance from the level entrance to get there. One of those priceless gaming moments for me.
It's just not as much fun without the vehicles, blowouts, meaningful cash, stalkers that avoid anomalies, faction reputation fixes, armor/weapon repair (I thought 1.0001 made it go down far too quickly) and precious sleep. Not to mention most of the fixes included have already been done by the community and the loosened a-life, which makes things a lot more unpredictable.

It seems many are not satisfied with the patch. Some people say it actually doesn't change FPS (according to one experienced guy from russian forum who analized patch, it seems they just recompiled exe files with higher level of optimization and that's all they did concerning "FPS optimization"), and shaders file is the same as earlier (despite changelog says). Plus, some people report that something is happened with respawn rate again, and NPCs often suddenly appear within visibility range.
Surely they fixed some quests, added random quests at Wild Territory etc. but still it's unclear to me is it a good idea to install it or not, it's just that those who reported about respawn rate changes could be used to a mod and now forgot how it was earlier in the original...

Hm im running it with Realgunnames and Repair Mod plus Float32 (isnt included in the patch opposed to what was said) and i dont see any probs.
No notable change in Fps.

It seems the Wild Territory is the MUCH more popular place now.... mini-outpost of Duty, bandits, mercenaries, rats etc etc. Also, is it me or they really reduced quantity of ammunition, artifacts and stashes on the maps?

I haven't installed it yet because I was worried that it could affect the two mods I use (real gun names and repair). So thanks for the information, GRRRR.

Hah! As it turns out, the fixes in the patch were mainly adopted from a guy called Bardak's unofficial fixes for 1.0003. He's also said that they didn't incorporate all of them properly either, and some of the things they claim as fixed aren't. Good news is, he's releasing an update with the fixes for other modders to use in their mods so in a while most will have these.
It's poor conduct I think, for a developer to rely on the community to provide material for IT'S OWN patches, yet change things (such as all.spawn format) which invalidate some functionality of the mods made by those very same people and don't provide any tools to help them out.

I can confirm that rumor. One location I've seen this happen at is the stalker camp near the Freedom base - near the small hill where the green mobile trailer sits. If I approach the camp from the red forest barricade side the military soldiers will insta-spawn between the trailer and the stack of concrete panels and immediately attack the stalker standing nearby.
