Sorry if this question has been asked too many times, and I did glance over a few pages and read opinions on the various patches, but nothing that sums it all up.
I've played through Stalker without applying any patches, and now want to start over again. I've got the 1.0001 patch, the 1.0003 patch and the 1.0004 patch. Obviously I'll patch in sequence but...
1. Is there a 1.0002 patch ?
2. Are there different versions of 1.0004 ?
3. What about 1.0005 ?
The last question was inserted because I didn't realize a 5th patch was released until a few moments ago when I went to a Stalker Page. I'm downloading it now.

If I remember correctly, 1.0002 was only released for the russian version. For the other versions, there is no 1.0002 patch.
I'm not sure if you actually need to apply all the patches, or if it's possible to apply the 1.0004 directly. But at least I'm pretty sure that it's possible to go directly to 1.0003, and then to 1.0004. As for 1.0005, no need to worry about it, since it only fixes MP issues.

1. Yes, for russian version only, THQ didn't accept it for int.
2. Rus/International.
3. It's multiplayer patch and includes only one new (and not important) fix for SP.
In any case all the patches starting from 1.0003 are cumulative only. You need to install only one patch on vanilla Stalker or on any previous version - doesn't matter, no sequence. Just 1.0004 or 1.0005, whatever you like.

So I'll go directly to patch 1.0004 and ignore 1.0001 & 1.0003. I'll ignore 1.0005 as well.
Thanks guys.

Sorry for digging this up, but i cannot find any good information about the patches from the official site and their forums are a hideous mess.
I finally got around to buying this game yesterday and grabbed the latest patch (v1.0005). I could not find any information about it only being an incremental patch and requiring any other previous patches, so i went ahead and installed it. So, my question is, does this patch actually include all bug fixes or not? Have i managed to be a complete tool and missed something here?
I haven't encounter any major bugs or crashes. The game runs very smooth without any hiccups at all. However, today, while hiding in a pipe, i wanted to speed up time so i could sneak into a base at night (Borov i think he is called). I had read that you can use the * key for this, but it did not work. So now i am wondering if i do not actually have all the fixes.
If anyone could clear this up for me i would appreciate it. If i have to go back and use the other patches and restart the game, i would prefer to do it now before i get much further into the game. Failing that i'll have to wander off and come back to this particular mission later.
*edit*
I went ahead and applied v1.0003 patch (to a v1.0005 game) and got a nice little message telling me that v1.0005 contains all previous updates. So that answers that. Still, i think it odd that my time speed-up thingy does not work like the patch notes say.

Yes. But I personally think 1.0004 + bardak's fix for 1.0004 is better than 1.0005. 1.0005 is 1.0004 + some fixes for multiplayer, and Bardak fixed some errors of developers they still haven't fixed in 1.0005 like f.e. incorrect stashes marks or reputation stats. Google for "bardak's fix" and you'll find what it's about, basically it only fixes some errors of devs. Anyway, just 1.0005 is fine too.

AFAIR, they removed the feature with 1.0001 as it messed things up.

Ah fair enough. Thanks. This is a very cool game. It's the first game in a long time that i have spent all day playing. I still want to keep playing but i must get some sleep so i'll be able to play again tomorrow. Yes yes. Very good. *rubs hands together*

Yes, when the game was in development I didn't pay attention to it at all as I was sure it would be crap based on many previous attempts of local developers to make a decent game, and a few hours after I started to play it it became one of my absolute favourite games of all times. I replayed it once slooowly (like 60 hours I think) with actual enjoyment and I want to do it again, I don't think any other game since Thief managed it for me.

*rubs hands together* I can identify with that feeling :)
