<b>IMPORTANT:</b> <i>This thread is designed to provide a place where we can all provide realistic suggestions for changes and bug fixes to be included in a possible patch. In general, it would be a good idea to follow the format layed out in this thread. This is designed to make it easier for Arkane to evaluate all suggestions.</i>

<h2>Desirable changes</h2><hr size="1"><h3>Changes & Additions</h3>
<blockquote> <p> • F9 should work when dying. Unfortunately, you have to go into the
save/load menu to load game at this time.<br>
• Add experience points to lock picking to reward thief players.<br>
• Add XP points for exploration as this is one of the most enjoyable
parts of the game, in my opinion.<br>
• Give XP points for getting through areas using stealth rather than
combat. Perhaps variable values could be used per AI in certain areas to denote
alert levels and if player gets from point A to B (eg. escaping jail) without
raising any of those levels then they get awarded points. <br>
• Display text for runes in rune book when clicked as the speech files
don't seem to clearly match a lot of the runes.<br>
• Map shadow needs to be reduced for explored areas. It often looked
as though I hadn't fully explored a room when I really had. Or worse,
it failed to show corridor entrances that I had passed.<br>
• Should be able to zoom into map as text written on it, such as level
exits, are unclear on main map at times.<br>
• Being able to annotate the map is an essential improvement to the
game.<br>
• A key-ring shortcut key would be handy.<br>
• In the save quest screen, after typing in the name hitting enter should
automatically save the game. Having to click the save quest text again seems
a bit silly.<br>
• Nightvision sound is way too loud. It drowns out everything else.<br>
• Some better hints at times would have been nice. For instance, it
would be good if someone could have provided a hint for where to go looking
for dragon eggs. At this stage, however, I would imagine that getting back
any voice actors would be too difficult and expensive as well.</p>

The Sisters of Edurneum Outpost:
-when you break in through the back exit prior to being allowed inside for quest purposes, walking into Zainesh's room automatically started the "I have come to get..." script, regardless of you knowing of it by that time
The Crystal Caves:
-when you kill the two snake women assassins, nothing really changes [at least it did not with me]. I had no prior knowledge of the plot, talking to Zainesh or showing her the plan parchment did nothing... I just killed them, the note told me something was up, but that was it as far as plot relevance went.
The Castle:
-when you discover you are a guardian, then go and lockpick the tavern Akhba entrance, the imprisoned guard will disappear, depriving you of plot elements [the sname women/kingdom of Arx pact], two runes and the entire teleportation scheme.
The Crypt, first level:
-if you complete the Lord Inut quest and get the bow, even though it says it only needs Projectile 30, it still will not work with Projectile 32
The City of Arx:
-when you enter from the cavern leading from the other outpost, you can run down the stairs and jump atop the banner in the middle. If you use Levitate there, you can fly above the entire city and even fall out of the level
-if you exit the castle, turn right and walk until you hit the dead end, you can see the map elements missing from above the wall [the wall opposite the castle wall]
The Goblin Kingdom:
-it is possible to sneak past the troll guarding the bridge by climbing along the air vent "fortress"
-you can steal the troll Idol again from the troll king, without any consequences. Not a bug, just illogical
-if you go up across the "bridge" in the Goblin fortress to enter their money&jewel depository, the guard outside will know you're in there evenif completely quiet. The moment he walks into range, even if you're standing still, he will open the door and barge in
General bugs:
-sometimes parts of conversations are both muted and without subtitles [I get that every time with the Edurneum/Arx "deal" conversation after you talk to the imprisoned guard]. Same thing sometimes happens with generic NPCs, you just see them opening their mouths
Desirable changes:
-some consistency as far as quests/people go. Sometimes, you have to talk to them, but showing them evidence does nothing. Sometimes, talking to them does nothing, but showing them evidence activates it [the plan to assassinate the queen: the King always just muttered about me destroying Akhba, then when shown evidence commented that Carlo did what he thought was right. No talk whatsoever about the assassination itself, he just suddenly knew
-similar with using objects with people. You have to doubleclick on your money to pay the bartender or the ice dragon, but you have to place the beer on the table or a like to get it working other times. Perhaps a "pay amount" query when you use the pouch, so it doens't feel completely detached...
-Enchant Object. I had to queue the spell up, then use it in inventory mode, but if I just threw the object on the ground and tried to cast it, I did get the reticle, but also had my sword drawn, so then I tried to "use" it, I just slashed with my sword, the spell soon fizzling out.
-some XP points for stealing would be nice. I invested large amounts of points into stealth, but since I'm a Thief/Mage, I cannot really wear all that armour the extra money grants me. I have some 60 000 gold which I cannot use, as noone actually makes scrolls or potions, they just sell an existing amount
-the minimap is a tad too zoomed in. It's useless in caves, as you cannot see enough on it to see how the corridors connect
-you should get some instruction for specific tools. I had no idea how to use the shovel until I tried using it with Enter by chance
-why can't you stack silver and gold rings?
-why can you stack Ylside swords [in the smith's chest], but not other items?
-when you steal objects that have been stacked beyond your abilities [like 18 crystals], they will remain stacked until you break them up
-the first time I broke into the jeweler's shop, I could steal items from his chests, but when I did it the second time [after selling it all back to him :cheeky: ], I could just "buy" them, even though he was not there
-why is there no "pickpocket fail" message with the king? You only find out you failed when you grab the item and everyone attacks you, whereas others warn you
-sometimes when talking to female NPCs, I got a "Garlic attack!" for no reason whatsoever...
-NPCs can still open locked doors even when you take the keys from them

Disappearing speech and text in cutscenes
This has happened to me several times. On computer A, my own computer, I got this several times near the beginning of the game. I had EAX on. I suspected this was an EAX bug, thus I turned it off. I didn't encounter this bug later on.
However, on computer B, with no EAX card (thus EAX effects turned off), I still got bitten by the bug.
If it matters, my EAX card is SoundBlaster Live! 1024 (I also think it's "Value" edition, although I'm not sure - I bought it second-hand).
No TNT2 Support?
When beginning the game for the first time, the dialogue screen asks you of your 3D accelerator. I have a TNT2 Ultra card, but it wasn't included. So, I went for the GeForce selection.
Unable to wear armor/weapons
Sometimes, without any apparent reason, I cannot equip some weapons or armor any longer. There are at least two instances of this, maybe more (but I didn't notice them). Somewhere near the end of the game I took of my Helmet of Poxsellus, but I wasn't able to put it back on! Neither right-clicking or dragging it over the character silhouette did anything. Luckily I had a recent quick save.
After making my Two-handed Meteorite Sword I decided to use the leftover mithril for making a Mithril Saber. And I did. Very late in the game I wanted to play with it a bit, but I couldn't equip it any more.
Horrible spelling
Please remove the extra exclamation marks from "Critical Hit!!!!!"
Speech and subtitles do not match in cutscenes: will/shall
Very often (or always) people say "shall" but the subtitles say "will" (or the other way round, I can't quite remember).

That is correct. They say "shall" but the words say "will". Doesn't bother me too much, however.

1. The loud sound effect/noise when using night vision is very annoying.
2. Having to reset my audio options every time I start the game is annoying. :(
3. It would be nice to have quests listed separately in the diary. :erg:
4. Annotatable maps would a very nice feature.
5. A sequel would be nice too. :joke:

Location: Human Kingdom (entrance hall)
Time: Cutscene with Snakesisters, just after talking to the imprisoned guard.
Effect: Sound and subtitles disappear until the Sisters say "We have no interest in your sob stories". It then continues as normal.
Loading an earlier save results in the first "line" of conversation being played as well. Continued loading results in more and more of the conversation being played, until the entire thing plays normally.
Location: Everywhere
Time: Any
Effect: It should not be possible to decapitate a goblin with a bow. A sword, yes. Even a club. But a BOW? And such a tiny one at that?
Location: Everywhere
Time: Any
Effect: Arrows travel far too slowly. They should also be affected by gravity - they appear to behave more like the gas arrows in Thief than anything else, slow movement with no decrease in altitude.
Location: Player
Time: Any
Effect: If Am Shaegar is right-handed (as I assume he is, from they way he wields melee weapons) he should hold the bow in his left hand and nock the arrow with his right. If he is ambidextrous, then he should be able to wield two weapons, or pickup/use items while wielding a one-handed weapon. Either way, there is something wrong here.
Location: Player
Time: Level Up
Effect: Clicking on the level-up glyph in the lower right takes you to the last page of you book you had open, NOT the character screen. It puzzled me briefly when I clicked on it and was shown my spellbook. Instead, it should open the book and switch to the "character" page.
Suggestions:
-more ranged weapons (longbow, crossbow, sling, darts, composite bow, recurved longbow) would be nice. AFAICT, the only one is the short bow, making the Ranged Weapons skill kinda useless.
-on the same topic, more types of ammo would also be nice. Barbed arrows, say, or arrows with added lightning/ice/fire/etc damage.
-the ability to enchant weapons with elements other than poison. A sword with added lightning/ice damage would be lots of fun.

Why do things vanish from site when you have an object that glows in the inventory?
Need a bigger list of video cards to choose from. I have a 9700 pro and the plants are all choppy.

Erkki posted a bug in the General Discussion forums, that I thought was critical enough to post here.
Quote:
I encountered a bug with bless (in the forge of the Ylside bunker). I used bless before putting on the Ylside Armor and after a cut-scene started. After the cut-scene the bless icon was gone, but my stats were still very high and stayed that way
SpellCaster on 13/1/2003 at 12:22
Uh, is this really a bug?
I was also able to keep Ylside armor on after putting it on using bless, but thought it was because of its own strength bonus (+5 total) which would make sense.
I didn't notice any other stats remaining high, just got my strength moved up by +5.
(Maybe your experience is completely different, in that case never mind).
Also, about things not stacking up in the vendor's chests: I was always able to stack things up as long as they had the exact same durability rating. Beware: I think Arx uses a higher precision for wear and tear than it shows. So a sword may actually be 59.1/60 and show 59/60. It may not stack if it has been used even a single time. I killed Ylsides with magic before they could attack, and I could always stack their swords in Manuel's chest.
Hmm, come to think of it, if I am right you should no longer be able to stack a torch in your own inventory after lighting it for a couple of seconds, even though it would still show 20/20. I'd try that myself, but my PC died while I was looking for the last, missing Akbaa stone
I haven't managed to set it up again yet, as it appears to be a hardware problem.

(Maybe your experience is completely different, in that case never mind). I can't check because I already uninstalled the game, but as I remember it, my magic skills were also a lot higher than before and the Ylside armor doesn't have that (forgot the attributes name) bonus does it?
