With this one the game doesn't want to boot anymore. For my graphics card "doesn't do pixel shader 1.1". Now what's that all about? They can't raise the specs with a patch???
First I updated my card, still bad. So I rolled back one patch and it's ok now. But anyone experienced this, too?
And another thing: suddenly my antivir software detects heuristic malware within the game's folders while booting it. Sometimes I get around by letting it ignore that stuff. I'm quite sure this started to happen after applying patch 08. Now, having gone back to 07, same thing. I'm going nuts with this game.

I've not experienced that with 1.5.08, but it made the game much more slower on my Radeon 3870 at sunrises - major jerks.
I only installed it because I wanted to play online, and practically all servers use 1.5.08 now.

What's your graphics card?

did you install vanilla - and immediately patched to 1.5.08 ? it should be cummulative.....try reinstall and then patch it immediately if not. and do you use any mods ? try without them first. yeah, and give some specs.

I experienced something vaguely similar. That was to do with Tages, with .08 it would randomly decide I had taken the disk out of my DVD drive, crash the game and corrupt the last save game. The game took ages to load too, so much so that I checked whether I'd lost one of the sticks of RAM.
Didn't happen with .07 (though I didn't play long with it) and didn't happen without Tages.

Radeon x1900
1.5 GB Ram
AMD 64 3000+ 1.81 ghz
I only had this problem after I applied 08 over 07. Then I reinstalled and laid 07 over vanilla, since then everything works again. I just wondered... and I probably just leave it on 07 anyway.
Another thing: Regardless this latest patch, I got some yellowish flickering across the sky sometimes. Anyone has an idea about this?
And no suggestions about that malware crap?

The Malware alert is probably to do with Tages. The newer versions of it and SecuROM are intermittently detected as Malware by some heuristic systems (basically, it detects them as phone home apps grafted onto a legitimate program), AVG is especially prone to this. It usually disappears at the next update or once someone alerts them to it.

What's the tell-tale for a corrupted save game?
Zygoptera on 23/4/2009 at 11:39
Persistent crashing, on reloading I'd get either a scriptmodule or a pathfinding error within about two minutes every time, or a crash at a plot critical point, after an initial crash citing a "no disk" error. That was on EFIGS standard retail.

I see. And yep, I had that no-disk error too.
