I think that report is mostly indicative of Britains scrupulously efficient approach towards keeping statistics and our burning desire to be top of any league table we can find.
The headline is ace though: England has worst crime rate in world*
*except for the countries which had worse statistics that we mention later in the article**
**and all those countries which didn't take part in the study***
***but otherwise, yes, THE WHOLE WORLD!
(I've also just noticed that it's England & Wales being curiously paired together ... but no Scotland or Ireland (Northern or otherwise), which strikes me as a bit strange - maybe they didn't return any stats, or something)
VVVVVVV Oh yeah, I forgot Scotland is independent but Wales is just sort-of-kind-of-not-really independent. Thanks, Monbee!

They're sort of got separate legal systems so I guess they'd count them as seperate entities for the purposes of recording crime.

Clearly the solution is to arm your citizenry!
If we do gun control now and figure out how to segue into an abortion debate later, we can make this thing into a controversial debate hat trick WHOS WITH ME

Like I say, if you're wanting to know why citizens behave in a certain way, the first place you ought to be looking is at the people who set the country's moral standard.
Explain how you arrived at the conclusion that the politicians and/or the government as an institution sets the moral standards for ordinary people.

What do you think laws are, and who do you think sets them?

It's true! When I heard my state had a death penality, I went and stabbed a man just to watch him die. I figured that if the state can do it, so can I.
Afterwords I went to a bible study in an abortion clinic and didn't participate in premarital sex. There was a guy playing a banjo there.

If you live in a society that is willing to put its own citizens to death, can you really cast any stones if those citizens do the same?
Are you actually saying that because a governmet uses the death penalty you should not hold citizens who murder accountable? Cause that's a mouthful even for you.
