My plans to see it Sunday by myself turned into seeing it today with a whole bunch of people. My opinion mirrors Tocky's for the most part. It's very well acted, excellently paced, and very believably done. Most normal people, especially the healthy skeptic types, would react much the same way as the protagonists would. Micha brushed off and ridiculed Katie's supernatural explanations at first, only paying her lip service for the most part, and seemed more interested in getting to the bottom of things than taking heed of a danger he only barely believed could exist. I'm sure most of us here would act the same if our girlfriends said all the weird wild bumps in the night were caused by crazy evil ghost bastard type things that have haunted her on and off her entire life.
But was it scary? Well, while I found it to be a pretty decent little movie, I didn't find it to be anywhere near as horrifying as the trailers make it seem to be. It was tense and engaging, sure. But I wasn't exactly screaming and fear pissing my seat over it the entire time.
Still, good movie. I liked it.
Edit: I just now got through reading about the three alternate endings. We really got the short end of the stick there. The ending where Katie slits her own throat in front of the camera would've been the perfect end note for the film. It's admittedly the more grizzly of the three, but considering the entire movie feels like it's building up to something horrific, that scene would've fit far better than the rest.
