That is a nice trick. The high-elf i am using can go to the 450 MP but he is too week against destructive magik.
In the first levels i am avoiding combat and doing only safe quests. For instance in the Balmoras Mages guild for that quest to colect mushrooms I didint go to the wilderness, even if animals cannot harm me too much, they would make me waste my precious magic reserves.
I just teleported arround all the mages guilds and aquired the ingredeants from the merchants. They also sell the essemtial potions of restore magika.
There are many oppurtinities to raise xp for a mage. Is just a matter of exploring the world and find where the character can be useful. :)
At same time of the game ill probably switch to levitating all the time instead of walking. That should raise my alteration to the top in no time.
I am planning to do something a little different when i get the money to buy enchanted items. The first thing is to fortify magika spell points directly to raise them to some absurd values. Then get the absorb spell points rate to 100%. I dont know if this will make me immune to magik or not but it should be very cool. ;)
I hope this helps to have more fun palying a wizard.

You might be surprised when you go for those spell absorption enchantments. Hint- they are absurdly expensive, in terms of enchantment slots.

I know a guy that made a 100% Sanctuary by enchanted all his armor pieces, shield, weapons daedric everything, plus pants, robes, rings, amulets. He only enchanted 7% for each but they all stack to constant effect 100% when used.

<boing> Sorry, your wrong.
As you can read in many other threads, the enchancement stacks, BUT not like 25x4=100. Its a little bit more complicated. But you sure can find it somewhere here.
Also, Sanctuary is much cheaper in costs as AbsorbMagic. It ssome time ago - so dont take it as granted - but i think i could enchant a deadrich tower shield (wich has one of the most enchant-points i think) with only where few of them.
BTW, dont use - Fortify Magic. Far better is Fortify INT. This way, all your INT based skill get a boost AND you can take every multiplier from the signs like wizard, atronach etc as well.
E.g.
a.) Fortify Magic 10 pts = 10 points more.
b.) Fortify INT 10 pts (with multiplier 2.5) = 35 points more.

Without better info is hard to say if those guys you are talking about took the wrong conclusions or not.

And a lot more expensive too. ;)

I went to enchant an exquisite ring (120 enchant slots) with CE spell absorption, and I could only fit 2-3 points on it (when you equip it you get either 2 or 3). There is absolutely no way you can wear enough items to get 100, even starting at 50, especially since most items wont even hold a single point of CE spell absorption. Sorry to dissappoint.

I think this depends on your int and luck attributes and your enchant skill. The guy told me to use alchemy potions to boost those two attributes before enchanting. Then make an enchanted item to boost your enchanting skill.
In the all you can enchant all your armor pieces and weapons: daedric helm, curiass, greaves, two boots, two glooves, (the two shoulder things), shield and axe or longsword.
The you can add to this list exquisit pants, shirt, and robe, plus two rings an amulet and a belt. Thats more 7 items for a total of 18 if i made my counts well.
I think that with boosted attributes and skills you can do much better than that. ;)
About fortify magika and fortify inteligence taking the some amount of mana i have to check this better but it doesnt make much sense. Otherwise there would be no need to have fortify magika.

There has been an ongoing discussion of these sorts of issues in the magic system at (
http://www.elderscrolls.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB7&Number=812641&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=14&fpart=) which you might find interesting (if a bit lengthy).
I don't think this example has ever been mentioned there, though many of the others have been fixed in at least one unofficial plugin.

Very cool thread, lots of information. I will check about the plugins. My main source until now was this site:
(
http://www.m0use.net/~uesp/morrow/hints/mwenchant.shtml)
It also as some very good information.
Some parts of the MW magik system need a fix. But i havent seen nothing so bad yet that can spoil my fun. ;)
Except perhaps that with my level 2 high elf atronach sign i can cast a fire ball that burns an evil for 20-40 points of damage during a couple of seconds, and still have half of my mana poll filled. :ebil:
