The video and text of Sarah Palin's resignation speech can be found at (
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/07/03/sarah-palin-resignation-s_n_225557.html).
It's notable how WEIRD the speech is. Most speeches are written first, and so the text of them resembles, well, writing. Hers is all over the place, flow-wise and grammatically, as if she made it up five minutes before the conference. All the talking heads on TV seem pretty confused by this, questioning the timing, arguing whether it's "brilliant" or "bizarre".
Also, special mean quote from the DNC, via CNN:
"Either Sarah Palin is leaving the people of Alaska high and dry to pursue her long shot national political ambitions or she simply can't handle the job now that her popularity has dimmed and oil revenues are down," DNC spokesman Brad Woodhouse said.
"Either way, her decision to abandon her post and the people of Alaska who elected her continues a pattern of bizarre behavior that more than anything else may explain the decision she made today."
Thoughts?

All the more quickly people will forget she ever existed, if we're lucky.
If the Republican Party is having an indentity crisis, whatever she represents is the stupid direction for it to turn to find itself. So if she's taking some kind of calculated risk to do something bigger, maybe it's just the opportunity for reality to knock her back into oblivion and the Party to look for itself elsewhere.

This is the most awesome thing ever. It's completely unexpected, no one understands it, and it's entertaining as hell to watch. What more do you want from politics?

Wow, that attempted hit piece was a whole lot of nothing.
So Mr. Purdum talked to a bunch of disgruntled former employees who complained about how they felt they were wronged, and then combined it with a bunch of questionable insinuations, tabloid stories, snide comments, and outright ad hominem attacks, and with what result? Palin comes across as a typical self-seeking politician. Big freaking deal.
What I would like to see is someone do an investigative story like this about Barack Obama and his doings with the super-corrupt Chicago political crowd as well as the various other radicals (Reverend Wright, William Ayers etc) he's been cavorting with over the past 30-odd years. That seems like a much more important and topical subject at the moment.

Maybe her family wasn't happy being the target of every jack-off on television, and she did the appropriate thing and took herself and her kids out of the spotlight?
That being said, she looked like she was on some sort of mind-altering substance during that speech - it was pretty sad.

OH JUST...
Nevermind, I'll let the others administer the curb-stomping that you are sure to get. Just remember, you brought it all on yourself.
