what is up with the basement of the imperial palace? there is a, literally, 20ft. long club. also, a ginormous chair(some throne, huh?), the sands of time(a huge hourglass that does nothing when you activate it), and other enormous stuff. does anyone know any use of these? i havent completed the main quest, but does mehrunes take the club or does anything have any use? also, the place is locked up, and a guard patrols there, so dont go in there if you are a goody-2-shoes.

Yes, Mehrunes Dagon is after the club (the Sithis Wand). Once he gets it, he plans to use it to take out the Nine Divines and "uncreate" all of Nirn. That's why he attacked Tamriel in the first place. Stopping him is the only way to get the bow upgrade.

Sorry Peeper. Very good post, but I try to put any End Game spoilers in the tags. Some people get their panties in a tizzy because they wandered into a Spoilers forum and got... spoiled.

And your edit was nullified by whateverhisnameisiwillnotwriteit quote.

Where exactly does one learn that? I ended the game today, and heard nothing about what you wrote. I haven't explored the castle basement either, though.

Oops. I'll often leave a thread open for a long time before moderating it, as I tend to the forum inbetween other tasks. Better late than never. pur3pwn3r was banned anyway, and I'd quite happily delete all the crap he spewed if I had the time, energy, and motivation.

He was? <does a little dance> Party like it's the end of the Third Era!
Tej you can ignore my post above. It's a load of BS I cooked up to annoy the banned one. There's actually no explanation for that stuff in the basement, but the hourglass is part of a Thieves Guild quest.

:erm: That'll teach me to have less real life and pay closer attention to the threads here ;)
It sounded weird, but the RyushiBlade's intervention made it sound more real :thumb:

And didja notice how beautifully it meshed with existing game lore? I really impress me sometimes...
RyushiBlade on 13/6/2006 at 06:26
Really? I haven't beaten the MQ, though I know what happens. Your explanation seems suitable. Though I'm not sure why it would just be lying around like that. Striker helps run the Imperial Library. He may have more insight into it.
