Need an excuse to play SS2 again?
Behold PACIFIST MODE!
The idea is to never attack anything directly, including cameras. I just finished it on the second highest difficulty, and I believe it is possible on Impossible.
This method of game-play requires a range of skills and items you may not use normally such as speed hypos and stealth. Since the engine is so similar to Thief, shadow and light make a difference as to how visible you are when sneaking. Same goes for the loudness of your footsteps. More than once, I wished there were moss arrows in SS2.
The great thing about this method is getting everything else in the game to fight for you! I didn't even know you could hack turrets and get them on your side. And Neural Restructuring is a blast!
One thing I don't recommend is getting Invisibility. Once you get that, it's way too easy.
There are only a few instances where the game forces you to kill. Other than those cases, let others do the dirty work for you. Put an enemy between you and a shotgun guy or midwife and it's one less guy to worry about. Hack turrets and cameras. Sneak. Sprint. Elevators have a lot of pressure behind them. Monkeys blow themselves up. The possibilities are yours for the taking. That's the beauty of Thief and SS2.

Wow, never heard of this! ;D Did you used no respawn by editing the cfg-files or by using shockcfg?

This thread is about sticking to a certain play-style, not about cheating.

This is a great idea and would be cool idea for a game all on its own.

That series of youtube videos is pretty awesome. He managed to make it to the Rickenbacker without hitting a thing. After that he had to which was a shame.
The fact that he made it that far, and the way he pulled it off was pretty damn good.

He did do a great job with the videos. Well done indeed.
I suppose my version would be more like TrapMaster, since I focused on other things killing my enemies for me instead of avoidance. No matter. Either way, I hope more people try these styles of game-play because they are awesome. :laff:
