In response to the OP, I find most of the popular shows(the American ones especially, with some exceptions like the Simpsons and Seinfeld) as mediocre and overrated. I'm just so sick of all those crime, reality and sitcom shows especially the comedy(I'm sorry but most US humour is just terrible) which is why I usally try and find shows which are alternative and more suited to my tastes like Doctor Who ( a long time favorite of mine). I swear if they cancel my favorite show for another season of Big Brother I'm going to assassinate the producers.
Yay! The US vs. UK humor debate! Traditionally I'm supposed to make fun of British people for their teeth now and make fun of you for losing the war.
I'm iffy on British humor. On one hand, it's totally awesome, but on the other, I just feel like it focuses a bit much on REPEATING THE SAME FUCKING JOKE OVER AND OVER. Maybe it's just because I recently watched Keeping up Appearances, but shows like it and others like to take a myriad of running jokes and beat them into you. Is this mostly an exception in British sitcoms because honestly I haven't seen enough?

I recently got back from a visit with family over there, and I found that my memory of the place was completely clouded by heresay. I watched a decent amount of TV during meals and only saw once or twice where a cartoon was on. There were no porn-filled vending machines in sight, and everyone was normal. The only two differences I saw were 1) crowded as hell when traveling around, and 2) everyone is compulsorily polite, but polite nonetheless. Oh and maybe you'll see a bit more people on bicycles than usual.

Add me to the list of people who hate Family Guy. I tried to like it, but like someone said before, the parts that are actually good are few and far between.
The newest overrated filth for me is Call of Duty - World at War. It's a meh for me. My friend swears it's the best game ever. It's ok. Multi-player is pretty fun.

What the hell is up with the history channel showing aliens and bigfoot which is the exact opposite of what history is? I happen to find actual history interesting. Spend some money producing actual programs supported by actual history professors who would look at you with the same incredulity I feel and quite possibly piss on you in disgust.
And come on people, with all the crap on TV you pick Family Guy to hate on? REALITY SHOWS are the equivalent of frontal lobotomy and everyone should chase the idiots on them down and beat them on principle.
And have you forgotten the gimp in Pulp Fiction? The watch? Samuel motherfucking Jackson? Really, the gimp is the scariest shit there is because, although we don't like to think about it, there are people alive right now that are just that crazy.
