Assuming Bill Hicks fits into the brand of edgy comedians, get fucked because that man was a god. It's impossible to overrate how goddamn good he was at his best.
EDIT: On Do Android's Dream of Electric Sheep/Blade Runner, I never really considered the film much of an adaptation of the book past the general plot. The entire feel of the book was far different to the film. A Scanner Darkly did a better job of capturing Phillip K Dick's paranoid insanity. I really enjoyed the book, but I'm a bit of a fanboy so meh.

Thought this was a thread about Nine Inch Nails.
Seems I was right in a way.
(have to agree with Joss Whedon thing. The thing is it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, just needs a better script, plot, actors, concept...fucking cowboys in space my ASS!)

Anime, Japan, hating on DRM, the idea that book-to-movie adaptations are required to stick as closely as possible to the source material, Half Life 2, iPods and everything else Apple, Alfred Hitchcock's Rope, the negative side of religion.

Joss Whedon ruined the Alien franchise and for that he deserves death.

two words: filmed theatre.
edit: I guess maybe this isn't the thread for me, as there's very little I "hate to no end", I just listed some things I find overrated. I wouldn't call
Rope "filth", just "overrated".

Oh yeah, and Koyannaskatsi (or however in the fuck its spelled). I was forced to watch this crap in Creative Writing and actually felt like repeatedly face-slamming my desk because of sheer boredom. "Its so deep?" Bullshit, imo.
Why was Koyaanisqatsi being shown in
creative writing?? 'Writing' itself is against the whole nature of the film and it's pretty much guaranteed in my experience that anyone with a strong interest in scriptwriting will hate the film, because it's a completely anti-script, anti-"creative writing" sort of film. My scriptwriting tutor gave me a barely-disguised snort of disgust when I said it was one of my favourite films.
In fact,
Koyaanisqatsi and
Rope are pretty much at opposite ends of the spectrum. One is all script, one is all visuals-and-sound.
Scots Taffer on 4/1/2009 at 09:16
Koyaanisqatsi I haven't seen in its entirety, but from what I have seen looks like a very meditative piece of film. I'd like to get it on blu-ray if at all possible.
For my money, I just can't help but love the cheesy staged nature of Rope and how the characters play off each other. I love Hitchcock for how he got unnatural mannerisms out of natural actors, I'm not entirely sure what I mean by that but I know it whenever I watch Rope and Psycho I know it.

Dear Mods;
So far we have heard a lot of opinions about holding a minority, contrary opinion but precious little in the way of execrable content.
Where’s the filth this thread so brazenly promised?
Yours Sincerely,
A Dissatisfied Customer.

It's not, but
Baraka is.
Baraka is a cousin of
Koyaan (it's directed by
Koyaan's DOP) and is also one of my very favourite films. Every single review of the
Baraka blu-ray I've read (including Roger Ebert's) has said it's the best-looking Blu-ray to date. I've seen it and have no reason to doubt that. Anyone interested in amazing images (and an amazing film) should check it out.

Yeah I've stopped bothering trying to defend Blade Runner because apparently it's "cool" to hate on it nowadays.
Isn't this pretty much what this thread is all about? "People like X, I hate it, they're idiots, I'm right and cool and have a six-foot penis"?
