I really can't decide if There Will Be Blood was the better choice for Best Picture now. It was a powerhouse of cinema.
I mean, I don't really care about the Hollywood circlejerk anyway but just for the recognition it might've given PTA, deservedly or not. Can't make my mind up on that one, tough decision.

Cate Blanchett should have gotten one as a consolation for being robbed of it in 1998. How the "Academy" could have passed over her depiction of QE1 in favour of Paltrow's fluffy heroine in Shakespeare in Live, is one of those bitter and enduring mysteries.
Needless to say, my regard for the Oscars has yet to return to pre-millennial levels.
