Those Muslims that are freaking out about it have every right to be upset. Just because your beliefs and paradigm are different doesn't make their anger illegitimate.
Not to say that I would condone violence because of it, just that you really shouldn't judge cultures when you know next to nothing about them.

Living in Britain, it seems this guys honour is strange.
People who get knighted and the like get it for doing huge amounts of charity work, making large contributions to their field or other such stuff. Who ever thought to give the guy who wrote that book a honour now of all times was just asking for trouble.
In my opinion, he doesn't even deserve the honour, he has done nothing for anyone but hide away, it was an extremely insensitive move by the the British government, and I don't see why they did it.

Salman Rushdie has written more than one book, you know. He's one of our finest authors and deserves his knighthood. The fact that they managed to piss off a bunch of unreconstructed savages in the process is just a bonus.
