SOLVED: I used GoldToDark and it's an absolutely incredible experience that everyone should try (especially if you've only ever played the Thief Gold version)!
Does anyone have an original Thief: The Dark Project disk that I can borrow or at least get a copy of the "thief" folder off of?
I really can't believe that there isn't an online way to get a copy of The Dark Project anywhere. I had an original TDP disk way back when and only-recently played Thief Gold (not impressed, no offense). Since that's the only thing available from Steam or GOG, I decided to get a disk-version of TDP from ebay. I verified immediately that the 3 extra missions were truly not there, and started playing. But I noticed a few things: lines of Garrett's dialogue that would trigger in places where I had never heard them before (except in Thief Gold), altered textures in some areas (the motion-sensing periscopes in Cragscleft look quite different in this version), Fire Shadows exist in this version, but otherwise mostly minor things. Minor, that is, until I got to The Sword. I always thought that the "Little Big World" section of the Sword was exclusive to Thief Gold, but this version of TDP seems to have it. And I'll probably get crucified for saying this, but I don't particularly care for it (I find it too immersion-breaking & unnecessary, but I disgress). I actually recall looking up lootlists when I was younger and seeing the two coins found in Little Big World, and being so frustrated that I couldn't get there without Thief Gold. So it's really weird to me that this disk has it on there. I understand that it may just be that later versions of TDP had this section (and some other adjustments) I'm just trying to find an early version that doesn't have it.
Any help at all would be great. The version I have (I assume, I'm not an incredibly smart person) is 1.14 since it says Thief114 when I put it in the disc-drive on my computer. Anyone know anything about the different versions out there? That would just be kinda fun to know about.

i also like thief dark project better then thief gold, and i have a original disk still, not sure of the version but i got i think in 1999 at "comp usa", i play thief gold with updates since i do fan missions, it would be problems with first game as so many texture would be missing/etc
also you will need that one update that lets you use sword in fan missions, wow the memory's
good luck

Does your version exclude Little Big World? That's pretty much the version I'm looking for. If you're willing, I could give you my Dropbox to upload just a copy of the "thief" folder from the disk.
As for the version you have, my disk drive shows up as "DVD RW Drive (E: ) Thief###" where the three #'s are the numbers corresponding to the version (mine is 114, meaning v1.14).

yes i got first version on disk, the tongue does not work on the mission to open the path in water to get to little big world
i will check to see the version in a bit and post it
update i checked the version i have "Thief114, 611mb,CDFS when i see it in d drive
if you in southern California i would be happy to work something out also i have the complete thief 3 pc game in box also
but the only thing i feel its good for now is om missions if you want to have that original feel
i don't have any drop box or anything to upload, also i had to use my old comp as that is the only cd drive i got, my new comp don't have one, and the old cd drive is about to die, it took the comp like 2 min to open the eject door on it, i feel i was risking putting the disk in there to check version but it worked and i got it out of that cd drive asap once i had info

Jacow's Ghost, did you patch Thief DP with TFix? Doing so can convert a Thief DP install into one that uses the Gold editions of missions for all but two levels. (I believe that The Lost City and Undercover remain the DP originals.)

I don't know how well it works, but there's a patch that will supposedly downgrade an installed version of Thief Gold back to the original TDP. Never used it myself however.

I did do that. But I don't know how else to make the game work on a modern computer.

No offense, but I have the inability to trust that someone would be capable of catching every detail of the original and fixing it. There would always be something. We need a place to compare the different versions.
EDIT: Being at a complete loss, I decided to give GoldToDark a try and, holy shit! It's way better than I would have thought! And now I feel incredibly embarrassed that I shot it down so quickly. I do know that I'm not a smart person in theory, but occasionally my stupidity & arrogance surprises even me.

yes, you have patched up with TFix full, hence you are getting the extras, if this is not desirable then start from square one and this time patch the game with TFix lite.

Thank you for replying! While I have solved this issue using GoldToDark, I'd like to ask a question in case anybody else has the same issue as me and finds this post.
TFix (full) will make a TDP disk playable AND add some of the Gold version fixes (I noticed some dialog & the Fireshadows, but the The Lost City appears to be untouched), but TFix Lite doesn't add those changes? I was only ever able to get the full TFix to work so I don't have any knowledge of the differences.
