Orgy's Thief Gold to Thief 2 texture patch isn't working in the Steam version for me. Any ideas? I have them extracted to thief_gold\FAM\ like they should be.

I'm not an expert, but what's the value of the resname_base setting in your install.cfg?

resname_base C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\thief_gold\RES

Could be that I'm just misremembering how good it looks though. I haven't played in ages.

I think I found your problem. You said you put the textures into the FAM directory under the root of thief gold... Well, your resname_base is pointing to the RES folder, so it's not catching what's in the FAM directory. (I think?)

Try adding to the end of the resname_base +.\FAM so it looks like this:

resname_base C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\thief_gold\RES+.\FAM

Hmm, I just checked mine and I have a FAM folder myself, and my resname_base doesn't have that. I guess it's not needed. Though it wouldn't hurt to try, you can always go back and remove what I said. I don't remember the setup process for orgy's patch since it's been a long time since I messed with that.

That doesn't work. It seems to cause problems with sounds not loading. Oh well. It isn't a big deal.

Do you have ddfix installed? I wonder if you can use the texture loader from that...

Also, what's the entire contents of your install.cfg?
Oh and (http://www.ttlg.com/thievery/patchguide.htm) this was in the thief FAQ; it mentions a FAQ for the texture patch and has a question about not noticing any difference.
