Ordinators for nothing, and the greef for free... - by Forsythe

Found an interesting way to 'harvest' Ordinators without all of them attacking you.
The problem with taunting them or letting them see you wearing Indoril is, of course, that all of the same type of Ordinator will then attack you on sight. If you'll allow me to digress for a moment, I'll explain (or, if you're in a hurry, skip to the last paragraph)... to make a long story short, all NPCs and Creatures have four variables... Fight, Flee, Alarm, and Hello; the one we care about here is 'Fight', which is an indication on how likely they are to attack you. When you successfully taunt someone, you increase the value held in their 'Fight' variable. Do it enough times (or it they're an Ordinator and you're wearing Indoril), it'll get set to 100%. When that happens, they attack.
With few exceptions, the "Ordinator"s, "Redoran Guard"s, etc. are all copies of the same master NPC template ("ordinator stationary", "ordinator wander", "ordinator_high fane", "ordinator_wander_tvault" and "ordinator_wander_hvault" are most of the Ordinator templates, and it should be pretty obvious what they do). Now for the tricky-yet-simple part: All of the copies of a template share those four basic variables. If Fight is set to 100% on one, all have Fight set to 100%.
How to exploit this? Think about it... you need to make them attack you (ie: need to set their Fight variable to nearly 100%), yet you don't want it to last forever.. just a few seconds should do. The answer? One or more "Frenzy Humanoid" spells that together add up to 100%! If you don't have the skills or Magicka for a single 100pt spell, use a few spells or a few enchantments; they add up, but casting the same thing repeatedly doesn't. They'll attack you, you can then slaughter them, and you'll still get a pat on the back and a friendly "Move along" from the next one who sees you.
(Okay, so I lied about the greef ;))

Thank goodness they don't mind me wearing my fav garb, Indoril Boots.
I'm waiting for it to be revealed that they're Vivec autograph model or some such, assuming there's an NBA franchise somewhere in Vvardenfell.

I'm sure that this has been mentioned in other threads, but you can safely wear most of the Indoril armor (which is the best medium armor)- only the helm and cuirass are scripted to make Ordinators hate/attack/kill you.
Thanks for the info, Forsythe:thumb:
