An odd question perhaps but one that just occurred to me: is there any logic behind the layout of the main forums page?
By that I mean, why is Community Center followed by Gaming and then Bioshock, LGS classics and so on?
I always feel like Thief Gen and Shock Gen should be displayed more prominently and above such subforums as LGS classics, Arkane Studios and Elder Scrolls.
It's a tiny little matter, but one I was just wondering what the official line was.

Yeah, it is a bit weird, isn't it?
For the most part, though, people who come here for Thief / Deus Ex / Shock discussion either already know where it is or find the forum directly via search engines. One of the thoughts behind the "above-the-fold" new stuff was that it might snag passing members a bit more easily as they scroll down to wherever they're usually.
Since we took out the Developers' Forum, Gaming is starting to look a little retarded. I've been wondering if it might not be better to shunt the Tech forums into the Gaming section.
But yeah, as far as the core forums being below the fold it's mostly because they don't need the exposure to casual readers. Casual readers might find them and decide they like them, but nine times in ten someone who's interested in Thief / DX / Shock will arrive on those forums' respective doorsteps.

Well, I for one am used to Game Editing being at the bottom, and usually just hit 'End' to get there. I'm sure a lot of people would find it confusing if all the forums were rearranged.
Incidentally, you can 'close' forum sections you're not interested in via the little arrow icon on the far right of each group (since not-so-known-about features were mentioned in that other thread.)

Yeah, there's that too.

I'd think, if you only moved one board, that moving the "Legacy Gaming" Help forum would make more sense than the more generic "Troubleshooting/Tech Help". The latter being about global tech help is quite ok where it is now, as I see it.

Yeah, Legacy Gaming would be better placed under Gaming, I agree.
And I'd actually completely forgotten about the collapsible nature of the front page, now I have a very minimised outlook on the entire forums. Cheers.

Well, ShockGen is a compost post forum. GBM said so. So no wonder it gets pushed down the main forums page :(

It certainly seems to be getting some fallout from the Bioshock forums at the moment...
It would actually be nice to be able to sort the forums as you see fit.
For example, I have the 'Thief Forums' group open, because I visit Thief Fan Missions, but I don't visit the spoilers forum, T2X forum or long-locked Thievery forum, so those are just wasting space for me.
I'd also like the hide away the Thief: DS editing forum from the editing section, since I have no interest in that, either...
