I'm in need of these re-encoded Thief 2 movies (Alchemy doesn't play nice with the audio in the originals) but the Rapidshare link is down. Could you re-up these by any chance?

Just reinstalled Thief Gold and went through your list. Excellent work! Everything installed and tested fine, and now my TG build looks and feels renewed. It was no small undertaking to bring together and figure out the best order to install a bunch of third party mods onto an old game is.
Cheers to you, and to the developers of all the various improvements. Well done!

Any and every person who wishes to correct/contribute is GREATLY encouraged to do it, for the sake of those Great games. The guide is ready but not finished, so please HELP!!

Thank you for these nifty (and very nicely explained) pieces of help!
I had just finished messing about with the awesome ddfix and wanted to improve even further, and this guide was just what I needed :)
A trick I just thought up, if anyone's interested. I've made it a point to install Thief2x to a dedicated Thief 2 directory. That is, I've copied my Thief II directory, renamed it Thief2x, then installed T2X into that directory. Don't know if I'm just being paranoid, but T2X just seems a tad intrusive, and with all the messing about with config files and whatnot I'm doing already, I like to keep the risks as low as possible as to f*** it all up ;)
So, anyway, if you do this, too, you'll probably hate that so much duplicate content is wasting space on your harddrive. Especially considering that 95+ percent of T2X goes into its own folder.
Well, we can benefit from the fantastic syntax of the .cfg files that allow you to set the content paths to something relative. In particular, I have my LGS stuffies in subfolders of "S:\Apps\Games\Dark". So, T2X lives in S:\Apps\Games\Dark\Thief2x and Thief 2 lives in S:\Apps\Games\Dark\Thief II.
I've deleted the RES folder and the MOVIES folder completely from Thief2x and updated the darkinst.cfg file so that it looks like this:
cd_path .\
install_path .\
language english
resname_base .\NTEXdds+.\EP+..\Thief II\res+.
load_path .
script_module_path .
movie_path ..\Thief II\movies
Notice how it fetches movies and res content by going back one dir, then diving into my Thief II dir :)
It significantly brings down the harddrive usage. I also tried to see if it were possible to fetch the .MIS and .SMO files from the Thief II dir as they're also identical, but I wasn't able to do so successfully. I actually ended up creating NTFS hardlinks instead, but that's a pretty hardcore thing to do, so I probably shouldn't talk anymore about that ;)
Anyway, as I started out with: Thanks alot for posting this! Helped a lot :)
Oh, one more thing: DarkLoader should probably just be switched with GarretLoader now - I followed your instructions to the letter (because like you I knew I needed to "optimize" my installs), but it turns out that GarretLoader can do just the same, and it's even more advanced (and eats Dark Mod and Thief 3 FMs, too).
Cheerio! :)

Just an fyi, I basically took the info from this thread (with TheFreeOne's blessing, this goes back a ways), and tried to organize it into a web page, and also put all the files at Southquarter instead of having them spread all across the web. It's still kind of a WIP, but the basic idea is there and should work. I think some of the info may be redundant as well, in regards to Ddfix and the widescreen mod. I'll finish it off someday, but until then:

(if anyone has corrections/additions, just let me know and I'll make changes).
