I was a scumbag forgetting the Widescreen patch - it was in the list of things to do, but not having a widescreen monitor, i forgot it. Bad mistake!!
Well, like I said, there's advantage even if you don't have a widescreen monitor, since it allows for any resolution. So you can play in a very high 4:3 resolution that you otherwise would not able to do, thus making Thief look even sharper and more beautiful. The first time I ran Thief in 1680x1050 I was shocked at how
new it looked.

Well, for me 1280*1024 given by ddfix is more than enough, so I forgot about higher resolutions. I always noticed the difference for the eyes is really little from 1280 and above resolutions.

Added Vista Admin note and the full thief path note in the Enhancement Pack. Thanks to all.

I would like to highlight some questions in the final part of my document
-At Alex Fung site i read this: For Thief Gold download the v1.33 patch for (original) Thief at The Patch Scrolls for EAX and A3D support!
It is true? In fact, when I set "Hardware acceleration On" and "Eax On" inside Thief game, then quit and re-enter there is NO audio at all, and I fix this by coming again in the Audio options, setting Hardware Acceleratiuon off, then On again. Sound returned.
I don't know if this gives Eax support or less.... but I would really enjoy to know!!!

-Also at Alex Fung site, there are in the walkthrough of Thief 2 some patches for mission bugs that are not listed in any other site. Someone knows something?

Hmm, nice information.... Something like this has already been done, but I think it was in the thief gen forum, and it certainly was not as big as this thread.
Anyway, I'm not sure why that persons' website has the 1.33 ptach under thief gold, as Thief Gold is newer (v1.37) and already has EAX support.

I've been searching through threads for an hour looking for something like this thread here. This is at least the fourth attempt I've seen of someone trying to make sense of all the possibilities for installing and patching the first two Dark Engine games. I think this keeps happening because there is no definitive thread that holds all the newer enhancements together. So, some poor sap (like me) obsessively dredges through all the new stuff, asks questions, makes notes, and creates a meticulously detailed thread that is buried in a month.
Can we please sticky this so that future persons like myself don't have to spend so long looking for a decent guide to the madness that has become installing and upgrading Thief G/2?
EDIT: By the way, great work, OP.

A side note: the sound enhancement installer did not work for me, even with the workaround stated in the OP. Fortunately, simply opening the installer with 7zip provided me with the files I needed to repack snd.crf on my own. It works fine now.

Another thing I would add is that the Thief 2 install process may take a *very* long time to fully load. Mine took about ten minutes; forum wisdom further informs me to wait upwards of an hour just in case.

You need an EAX 2.0 supported hardware to begin with. Sound Blaster or Audigy 2. Realtek onboard doesn't work.
