Ubuntu is Linux for black folks and the idea that a woman would bother with all this for a cross-eyed hick like you is preposterous, so I think your just being paranoid.
I have nothing else to add, other than that this thread makes me sad.

And NOW, in thread-related news!...

So, no opinions yet on that language use?

hmm guys i received an unsolicited email that was poorly written here are the facts the guys in the csi forensics lab were able to scrounge up 1) possible incorrect useage of negro speak, furthermore
There's a lot more to it than I mentioned. I essentially just want to know if the language use looks faked to anyone, so that I can figure out if this is actually a random Alabamian stalking me, or someone I know... If I can be
fully convinced that the language use is FAKE, I can make a safe final assumption. Otherwise, the person I'm suspecting is going to get a very, very strange email... :erm: and I sure as heck want to be 100% before doing
that.

Seriously, just drop it. Pretend it never happened, and do not reply to the person. Why's the authenticity so important? Why do you think any of us are experts in ebonics? I don't hang out with anybody who speaks like that often enough to have studied it, and frankly, it had better be entertaining for me to want to listen. If it's important to the author, you'll hear from him/her again.

All of which must be why I came here looking for opinions: because I felt it was worth dropping, easy to resolve, and not needing any further investigation on my part.

As a sidenote: "Ebonics" is just wrong in my opinion because African American Vernacular English, as it's generally called, is not just comprised of different sounding words (ebony+phonetics=ebonics). It's got it's own syntax, morphology and semantics as well.
;)

Yeah, it isn't the happiest thing to befall a group of people (they probably drown in ugly stares, and people talking trash about their kind.... in fact, maybe that's where some black people get their "white people are against us" paranoia) but the thing is that nobody is out there "inventing" ebonics, and trying to make it spread: I'm pretty sure it just came from a slow decay of language deterioration, that a lot of black people nowadays are simply born into, whether they like it or not...
The trick is to then start using "regular" English, but another issue is that if their families don't, they're just going to look weird. Thus a lot of people are probably locked into it a good deal... :erg:
The common MISTAKE in all this is thinking that they're generally scum, when they're just people... (give or take your usual handful of oddballs and "true" scum, but then we have so many scum in regular ol' WHITE society, that it's hardly fair to let it brand them all). People are so quick to hate nowadays, usually without thinking deeply into the people they're hating at all...

Are you saying that judging people based on their race is wrong?

Din't Fred Durst make a career out of this yo?
(Sorry. "Yo" is really the only black word I know).
What about, "Put your hands up?"
...except that'd be: Puh ya hanz ah.

Not at all. I mean, these people are 1) Ebonics speakers, and 2) Black... that's just a one too many things against them to not take notice that there's something
wrong with them... (just don't tell the two black best friends I've had in my life... they were both just niggers that I used to mooch buffalo wings off of)
