Oops.. Jumped the box in Rickenbacker pod 1. - by Joush Mark

Near the start of the Rickenbacker, Pod 1, there is a big crate marked hazardous materals. Without thinking much about it, I mantled it, walked across the top and dropped down behind it. Now I can't get back to the first area of pod 1, where a single black egg still waits.
Short of turning on a noclip cheat, is there a way to get around this?
And.. err.. Is there a noclip cheat? If I have to restore from before this, it's about an hour of progress lost.

There is, but I think it involves Dromed, and I have no knowledge there. Unfortunately, most people are busy with NYE still. It's nearly 1 in the afternoon, January 1st, here. Still some hours before it hits America.

If you download DromEd and play the game through its interface, you can use shift+p to fly and shift+e to unfly (unless it's the other way around, but no harm testing). When flying, you can safely type "physics" into the console (accessed by trying to type a ":" in the game interface, DromEd or no). Physics will toggle clipping on or off. Don't use it without flying first or you'll be falling for a bit and have a long trip back.
Anyway, my experience is that downloading and learning to get into DromEd for the first time in your life will probably take around half an hour to 45 minutes, if not longer. It might be better to just replay from the hour before--assuming that your autosave from entering the Rickenbacker has been overwriten. I'm not aware of any way to get back through there, though it might be possible.
Incidentally, I know all this because I had a Black Egg fail to register once and had to no-clip through the Rick's bridge door. :p

It shouldn't take you that long to get into ShockEd. :weird: Just start it, go into game mode, (the short-cut is alt+G) let it portalize if it wants, then quick-load. You should be in game, then you use those shortcuts. You should need 10 minutes tops. :weird:

In other words, just no-clip outa there.

You forgot downloading it, learning how to make your game mod-ready, making your game mod-ready, making your game ShockEd-ready, unzipping ShockEd,
finding game mode, using the no-clip cheat, quitting ShockEd, and going through the CD verification for the main game again. Also, you didn't mention the part where trying to use ShockEd game mode for more than ten minutes crashes the computer, but that might have been entirely subjective. :laff:

I'd think most people would already have their game mod ready, and I don't remember having to do anything fancy before installing ShockEd. :weird: Still, al of that shouldn't take more than 5 or 10 minutes, although I'm not sure about the download time anymore. Been a while since I downloaded it.

When I get stuck somewhere, I just drop my armor and mantle the hell out of there. Was this box too tall?
Drat on 6/1/2006 at 04:27
What does dropping your armour have to do with it? IIRC, SS2 doesn't simulate your character being weighed down by worn/carried equipment.

You can stand on it.
