I've already played through SS2 once, but I didn't use psionics a single time then. I never needed to. However, I'm going with a psionics/energy approach on my Hard playthrough, but I'm not sure I'm using my psionic abilities "properly." After selecting a psionic power, I usually just activate it by clicking the left mouse button once. However, I noticed that I have the ability to hold my mouse button down for a certain duration as well. What does this do? There also appears to be a threshold of some sort 3/4 of the way. I'm not sure I understand the point of this. Could one of you gents perhaps educate me on this matter?
Much appreciated. :)

Basically, if you hold it down to within that threshhold, you cast the power as if you had two extra points of PSI stat, but if you hold it down too long and the indicator reaches the end of the bar, you get burnout, which damages you, wastes your psi points and doesn't produce any effect*.
* Unless you have the Power PSI O/S Upgrade, in which case you take no damage and (if you're using ADaOB) don't lose the PSI points when you burnout. You still don't produce any effect, however.

So holding it down makes it last longer or something? I'm still a little confused about that. Sorry. :p

Did you tried the training? I think it makes the things pretty clear.

Don't feed it.

Either it lasts longer, or you get more damage, or nothing, as I recall.

Likely, the "beast" ;)

Well obviously if the power says that a higher PSI stat will make it last longer, then overcharging it into the threshold on the right will make it last longer. If it says higher PSI will do more damage, then it'll do more damage. If it says higher PSI will heal more.... you get the idea.
