Pineapple Express - Very stupid, but even I had to concede, if anybody wanted stoner humor it was absolutely pitch perfect. 227, lol.
Beastmaster - Proof that if you put a camp show on late night network tv for long enough, anything can become a cult classic. Or: The poor man's Conan.
The Return of Martin Guerre - Saw this last month and it reminded me how few really great movies are set in the medieval period, much less that portray life in it so authentically.
Match Point - About once a decade Woody manages to write something utterly brilliant that pardons the drivel he makes the rest of the time. For us, this is it. Story immediately sucked me in, had me following the whole way through, and maybe I was subconsciously playing along but I didn't see anything coming and was reeled right in by the end.

Shutter Island: Potentially gripping and well made mystery by one of the masters ruined by trailer that screams "He is the missing one!" like the wailing of a thousand mourning banshees.
I would agree for most movies, but in the case of Shutter Island, people fail to realize that the "twist" wasn't actually the point of the movie. It's super obvious from the beginning he is the crazy one; but it's not about whether or not he's crazy, it's about how his craziness manifests itself and how does (or doesn't) come to terms with it.

Well I'll give it a go someday and at least my expectations are low.

Only in the superior quality of it's bone crushing mano-a-mano mayhem.
I find it interesting that you state that the one on ones are "superior" when one is real and the other is not. I haven't seen the film so yeah the fights might be great but how that's a "fuck you" to UFC, a real fighting competition, beats me.

The film fights may be more real than life, because the UFC has restrictive rules now.
Not that I would know about either. :D

It was a throwaway UFCking joke.
Valhalla Rising is a great movie - watch it. That's the message.
