Remember
Shipping... And Receiving? Remember the music? Remember those strings looming ominously in the air? (if not, you can hear them (
http://aaraaf.net/temp/thief_swells.mp3) right here)
One of my favourite bits in the entire
Thief universe. It's just a simple piece of music but it encapsulates The City for me.
Now check the new trailer again. Listen closely. The lighthouse. The pocket watch being closed. It's there.
While I'm not drawing any conclusions from this little nugget, it reminds me of
Deus Ex: Human Revolution openly citing the UNATCO theme. Chills down my spine.
Yeah, you might've noticed I really like music.

Thief 4 will be awesome because...
We are waiting to hear what Paul Weir has cooked up for Thief. We don't know if he's composed any melodies, but he's chosen sounds and the parameters, rhythm and key, for them to be mixed randomly in each zone of the maps. His GDC generated music demo was the best we've heard for Thief 4, but nothing in the teasers and trailers sounds like his work. Paul likes Brosius's work and didn't want to fix what wasn't broken. I'm also interested to hear his sound design, where he hand-crafted all new and original sounds for the game, and to this day, what Paul's shared with us has been the absolute best thing about waiting for Thief 4.

Possibly why he left the studio, he clearly didn't mesh with the rest of Eidos Montreal.

I've noticed that the guy who took over from him has said he's in charge of ALL audio heard in the game. While that can be taken in more than one way, it struck me as encroaching on Paul's contribution. The fact the audio released last month 'til now has little resemblance to the GDC demo in any way has me bracing to be betrayed on yet another front. If we are, I think I don't want to hear the excuses they have for us on that decision, either.
