He was 78? Sounds like he led a long, productive life that touched more than a few people. I guess the tragedy is, it was sudden, and no one had time to 'prepare'.

I don't know his work well, but I did enjoy an anthology published of his sci-fi short stories. There was this theme recurring in some of them of the universe being old, winding down, dying that I found quite evocative.
