My game says it is version 2.3 on the panel screen after installation, but there is no multiplayer bit. And it won't let me patch the game up because it says it is version 2.3 already and not 1.15 ???

Rightclick shock2.exe, choose properties. On the Version tab choose "Productversion" in the list. What is the version listed there?

The product version is 2.3 but there is no multiplayer option...

Open SHOCK.CFG-file in your favourite text editor and check if you can find "netplay_ui" string at end of file. If its not there then add it.
Now there should have visible multiplayer button at the main menu.

When I press tab key and go to my inventory and click on a recharged power cell to put it in its place to open a door, it is making my wrench active and swing. It shouldn't be doing this in inventory mode should it?
