Hi all.
After having finished S.T.A.L.K.E.R. for the second time, I started to play SS2 again. I never had the rebirth and the shtup mods both installed at the same time before and I must say that you guys have done a great job. It almost feels like a new game to me. The texture work is awesome and the Midwife model looks great. The previous model (the boobie one) was alright but not scary enough.
Right now I am at that point where I got the elevator running - so there is a lot of fun waiting for me. :D

Yeah SHTUP and Rebirth are great, can't wait to see those getting more complete. Never played without those though since I just got the game two years ago:p
I've actually played with the different midwife model first and think the boobie model is far more scary, it's probably which one you see first when playing.
BTW search for the Tacticool weapon replacements by Mercurius, he made hig res and high poly versions of the shotgun and pistol player models, they make huge difference too.

..rebirth is quite complete if memory serves, only the human player and "living" crewmembers (like dr Watts) aren't updated yet..

I don't remember right now, does Rebirth do NPC's only or static objects like tables and things like that too? IIRC with the static objects there'd be room for improvement left.

Rebirth only updated the enemies and corpses models, it has nothing to do with static objects.

Is there one (mod) that updates all the meshes or objects that can be picked up? Like the soda or the vodka?

Nope

Hm, that makes me wonder if this is possible. It should be, right? I read at Strangebedfellows that the models are in the .bin format. Question is, if the engine would be able to handle that without a major slowdown.

There's object and mesh enhancement packs available for Thief 1 & 2. I've observed that some of the TTLG regular with shitbox PCs (dating back to the Triassic Era) can run the games fine with those packs installed; I seriously doubt that there'd be any major slowdowns in SS2.
Although if we can get the recent DDfix Thief 2 hi-res world texture hack working with SS2, I'd imagine that the resource footprint of SS2 + the next version of SHTUP will be significantly larger.

Oh, believe me.....it's quite possible. I wish it weren't the case.
