Because you're too busy crying your eyes out because she's been banging some Crocodile Dundee motherfucker on your weekends off?
She just got all hot and bothered when I did the "That's not a knife..." re-enactment.
SORRY STITCH.

I believe you picked the right culture for conducting a distance relationship, Marecki :D

On that note, regarding your girlfriend - why don't you go with her? This is not a question that must be answered, of course; just some thinking material.
Additionally this NEEDS TO HAPPEN. Scots needs another terrible influence on him to cast aside his staid fatherhood kick
oh hi mrs. s taffer :(

Living in Los Angeles is expensive right now. It also happens that public transportation is not as readily available here as it is up there. Hope that you don't mind a dent in your wallet if you're going to come down here, because you'll be sure to spend a lot of moola on rent and at the gas pump. But, enough downers. Hope things will work out for you.

Marecki, you're blessed (and you know I'm not a big sappy person about this shit). I only have one thing to say: round trip airfare SFO to Burbank is $148 on American Airlines.

Not a bad deal, at all. Burbank airport is a good call, too, as you won't have to spend half your day there as you would at LAX.

*Feels nostalgic*
Ah...memories...
All and all, Vigo's got it right. All the advice in the world may be bollocks, in the end, you have my well wishes. The only scrap of advice I can offer is this: it's not going to be peaches'n'cream, but, it can happen.
Congrats, Mar.

Kickass! People at the lab recommended me SouthWest, which can get you a ticket for as low as $120 (OAK to LAX) but unless you book ages in advance it ends up about $200, so it's good to know there is another option. Plus I collect AA miles because it's usually the best option for getting from Poland to the US :) Thanks, Blue! I owe you one.
MrDuck: Since one of the ideas my lady and I have got for our weekends together, please don't mention the noodle incident to her, m'kay? ;)

Gotta do my part to support love in bloom.
If you use the airport code QLA instead of LAX you'll get the whole LA area and that can save you a lot and keep you out of the horrible traffic near LAX (it really is bad--I just got back from there Monday and it sucked worse than ever.) I know there's a similar code for the SF area, but I can't remember it (QSF?). I poke Expedia.com for the lowest fare, then book it through the actual airline, since that often saves a $5-10 "booking fee." Remember that you're now heading into "summer fare" season, so things will get more pricey for a while, but you can get some good deals if you cruise the tavel sites like expedia, orbitz, and travelocity and jump on specials the minute you see them.

The very, very best of luck to you, Marecki.
I wish you and your love well. :)
I believe it can definitely work, as long as you both work together to make it work. If at some point it gets a little rocky, don't give up. If you both love and care about each other, there is always trying again.
May your friendship and love for each other bloom. :)
